Yeah same here. HS and college I didn't play many video games but always owned a gaming PC or console. Those times I stayed dedicated to sex and drugs.
Edt: Really didn't pick the hobby back up until things slowed down and was going out less.

I dont game a ton. it ussually takes a really good rpg or something like an fps where I can play with friends. I go back and forth between xbox and pc. I spend about a month on each, but I really only game for about 5 hours a week max.

Pretty much like everyone had said. I've gone through phrases. I used to sit and play for Hours on Cod.
Now gaming just doesn't seem worth it. I view a game as either not enough content to even start playing or as being too big of a game to dive into it.
I know each are just excuses I use for myself not to play. I have a 13 month old though. I got back into it while he was 3-10 months cause I work nights and watch him during day. But now that he is all over the place most of my time is spent playing with him.

Every now and then, I do get tired of playing games and just kind stop playing as much. I don't ever just drop it completely, but it comes in waves.

I grew up up SNES and N64, then high school for PS2. I really gamed hard when I was a kid. Once high school and college hit, I didn't play nearly as much. I go in waves now that last years sometimes. I picked up PS4 at end of 2013, played one game and didnt play for another 3 years until Fallout 4 this past winter.

I typically stop once there's a lull in games I want to play. Then it'll pick up again with a new release.
So right now I'm not playing much but maybe on a Saturday morning. Once NHL comes out I'll be back in it

I always go from playing a lot to taking weeks/months off at the time.

Played a ton ever since the N64 and let up a little last gen. Luckily this generation has got me back into the swing of things, also helps that my girlfriend of 6 years is the first one to put up with my habit.

Yes. About 3 or so years ago. Got a job that keeps me too busy to be on here constantly or play.

I play probably 3-4 hours every day, but I live somewhere where I don't really know anyone so that definitely plays a large part of it.
If I go to my girlfriend's then I can be fine without playing it for however long I'm there (Like anywhere from 2 days to a week or so). It's just something I do because I don't really have much else to do when I'm not at work.
If a game comes out that I'm into, I still will pop an addy and play it for 12+ hours on release and I love every second of the times that I do that.

Take breaks, never really quit. Even if I wasn't playing much, would usually fire up Fifa and have drunk battles with friends or roommates.

Played a game called Shadowbane when I was a teenager into college. I had dabbled with other MMOs, but was turned on to Shadowbane by some older friends. That game just swallowed me. I was always turned off by WoW and other clones because they were too cookie cutter. I wanted to customize. I loved the character skill tinkering with the game, and the sandbox/totalwar/pvp concept behind Shadowbane. The game unfortunately died due to poor servers and an extreme learning curve. Outside of CoD during college, playing games have been dead to me. I think it's a two part thing.
1. I have a really really addictive personality (at least with games). I can't do an hour of gaming a night. I need like 6 hours..5 days in a row. I have a job now. Can't disappear for a week.
2. Nothing scratches the itch like Shadowbane did.... Idk if another game has ruined it for anyone else, but I get bored after a couple days or a month and lone for the feeling Shadowbane gave me...
Anyways I just watch lets plays on youtube now.. Game have really good story lines. Mostly watch along for the movie

Yes. Absolutely.
I got tired of gaming about 5 years ago.
It just didn't seem the same any more.
I lost most interest. I could occasionally enjoy a game of maybe Mario Kart on the WiiU

Not being a jerk at all. Simply asking, does that really count as getting tired of gaming.. or simply just too busy to have time.
However, with the extra responsibility perhaps gaming became less interesting to you.. so I could see this.
Like I just completely lost interest. I wish I had interest in gaming.. it just does not feel the same.. and I absolutely loved playing..

I just took about 6 months off, but have been running through the Halo campaigns the last few weeks almost daily.

Biggest problem I have with console gaming is I like to have the TV on for a live game/news/show, and traditional gaming uses the TV screen.
The only time I whip out a console is if I'm entertaining people.

Yep, I usually game my arse off for a few weeks, then take a break from keyboard. I'll try and find a good book or start watching a series.
