That is what I am focusing on. Was curious how much difference 1 dependant makes. If it $20-30 bucks a week its not worth the hassle to me. If its $200-$300 bucks a week I may be inclined to change my W-4
You realize you can line item the exact amount right? Putting 1 or 2 or whatever just estimates your taxes, you can put 0 and then line item say $300 every paycheck.
There's no reason to get a refund, you should be paying something every spring because you should only be withholding 90-95%. That way you aren't giving the government any money at all.

Put a 5 or 6 on that bad boy. See what you can get away with until tax time.

however I am getting anywhere from 37%-40% taken out for taxes... which is just absurd to me.
actually, it makes perfect sense to me. Top tax rate is 39% (i think)

This thread reminds me of the idiots that call into shows like Dave Ramsey that make like $400k but are in 100k of debt. I love guys that make over $200k and ask for minor financial advice like this. There's no way you don't have a CPA OP, why would you not ask them? If you don't, well that's just as dumb with that income.
Its one thing to ask questions about the way something can be interpreted, but this is CPA101.

Changing your Form W-4 takes a minute. Just go to HR office and request a W-4, fill out name, address, ssn and number of dependents. Sign. Give to HR person. Walk out door and go back to work.
