Help needed identifying this former Tiger

Hi!
When was a young child in the late 80's, a then-member of the LSU board who was close with my parents gave me what I was told is an authentic LSU game jersey that was given to him by a former Tiger.
My 7 year old brain figured that I could identify the player by scouring the roster from a game day program and associated the player then wearing #31 as the Tiger who donned this jersey. Gordy Rush was #31 at the time the jersey was given to me.
For decades, I have been under the mistaken impression that it was his jersey. Some weeks ago it occurred to me that since Rush only wore #31 for one year, and that the jersey was given to me near the beginning of that season, the player who wore it must have preceded Rush.
I've searched online and haven't been able to narrow down the possible candidates, and am hopeful that TD historians may he able to help me here.
Here are the facts/clues:
* Whoever wore it did so before Gordy Rush.
* The jersey was made by Russell Athletic
* It preceded whatever point LSU started printing names on the backs of the jerseys.
Any help identifying which Tiger may have worn this jersey would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
ETA: With help from HonoraryCoonass and lsufball19, we've narrowed it down to the following five Tigers:
1989 Odell Beckham
1988 Joe Brown
1987 Calvin Windham
1984-85 Randy Kaiser
1979-82 Tommy Boudreaux
Thanks to lsufball19 for pointing out that NCAA rules require names be removed from jerseys before releasing them to the public.
This fact establishes that the claim that the jersey in question was a game jersey (told to me by the former LSU board member who gave it to me) is potentially accurate despite there being no name on the back.
I'll update the thread if I'm able to find out definitely which of the five Tigers this jersey belonged to.
Thanks to everyone who took time to respond, cheers and Geaux Tigers!

Chris Carrier?
Thanks for the reply. Do you know what year(s) he wore it? Position?
I'm hoping to narrow down a list of possible candidates and attempt to contact them to ask them if they ever gave a jersey to the individual who gave it to me.
Thanks for the first lead!

Pretty sure he hadn't been conceived when this jersey was worn.

I thought Carrier was #11?

Chris Carrier was a DB - that's all I remember off the top of my head

This task is proving rather difficult. I figured TD is my best bet for solving this.
Thank you to all who responded or will respond!

Where is the last name? They had that on the back of jerseys back them.

The back of the jersey is pictured. This jersey predates whenever LSU started printing names on the backs of the jerseys, hence why I don't know.
I don't know what year it's from, only that it was before 87 or 88 (whichever year Rush was #31).
ETA: 1990 was the year Rush wore 31 (and the year it was given to me).

Can get post the link? I searched there and couldn't find anything definitive.
Also, thanks. If this is accurate it's a very good starting point. It's possible that it was before any of these, but at least I have a list of names now that I can hopefully contact via FB or Twitter and ask if they ever gave a jersey to that particular board member.

Likely a practice jersey, if game used would have SEC patch and other indications, nameplate, year tag, nike check...ect

www.lsusports.net
Then click on teams
Click on football
Click on roster
It'll have the current roster with the current year in the upper right corner, click that.....and there will be a dropdown of all the years

seems to me like Odell Beckham wore that number around those dates...may be mistaken, though.

Possible. The gentleman who gave it to me said it was a game jersey IIRC, but it's been nearly 30 years.
There is a Russell Athletic decal on the front of the jersey near the bottom. This jersey predates LSU's contract with Nike.
Anyone know what year LSU first put names on the backs of the jerseys?

Thanks for your help! I had to switch to the desktop version of the site which is why I wasn't seeing the menu for past rosters. Found it, and have narrowed it down to five possibilities.
