I remember when everybody kept asking why we don't run it out of shotgun more. Then that's what we ran out of pretty much the whole bama game and we all know how that turned out. Then everyone screamed to go back Under center. Ahhhh lsu fans

When did that happen?

Thats what I'm trying to figure out. Could've sworn we stayed in I formation damn near the whole night vs Bama.

LSU lined up in the shotgun quite a bit in that game. You probably didn't notice because they were still just running between the tackles.

I don't remember if we did or didn't, as I was drinking heavily by the second half
I certainly don't think people (a large amount) wanted more I-Formation than shotgun on this board
Doesn't matter what you do when your oline gets dominated like that and your defense can't stop the run

That Bama front 7 ranks top 5 all-time, maybe even top 3

LSU fans in a nutshell. See what they want to see.

I watched it again a couple weeks ago. They ran a lot out of shotgun and the zone blocking was blown up at the point of attack everytime. But to their credit nothing would have worked. Bamas front was just better that night
The one thing that did work a few times was the zone read option. I just don't think they trusted Harris to keep making the right decision. The few times he kept it he got 10 yards though

I think the play you will see more and a lot of is the run pass option out of gun and out of I. Run the ball up the middle or quick pass to either Dupre or Dural or any athletic receiver on the outside. You can run this play out of any formation and with LSU's running ability there will be times where you can pop it out to one of those receivers and all they have to do is make one guy miss.

I love when folks out themselves here as people who have no real understanding of football and do their best to unintentionally scream from the mountaintops that you can pretty much ignore anything they have to say regarding the game of football in general since they don't know WTF they're talking about.
Do you remember folks complaining about why we ran single receiver routes on 3rd downs inside of our own 10 yard line or on our own side of the field? When we had already established we had an incredibly inept punter and punt coverage unit? When we knew we couldn't flip field with Special Teams and were outgunned on the DL as we averaged about 275 on the hoof per man in that game?
Because that's EXACTLY what we did multiple times on 3rd down in that game in the first half alone with Harris essentially as a first year starter.
Do you remember the pick he threw? Do you know how many times we put that on tape and how many formations we ran it out of when we threw to the sidelines there?
I love hearing people try to defend our offensive staff and their utter and complete ineptitude in terms of scheme, playcalling and adjustments in game. Looooooooove it!
There's no hiding the fact that Les is like Mike Ditka coaching the Saints and drafting Ricky Williams...thinking somehow the same things he won with and did in the mid 80's will translate a decade later in a game that constantly evolves.
Wait...I'm sorry...I was off on a rant. You were busy talking about sh!t you have no clue about. Please...allow me to let you to continue to act as if you know more about the game than you think you do.

What are you talking about? I wasn't defending the coaching staff or arguing about the game plan. I was simply saying they ran it out of shotgun plenty against bama and it didn't work but nothing was working that night. Never said it was a good or bad idea. Both types of runs will have positive and negative plays this year

No shot we run RPOs.
They ran it a few times last year and especially in the bowl game. If Harris shows he can be trusted to run them then they will.

He's prolly citing kneeling on 10yd line at end of 1st half.
LSU was in 22 set only 8/45 plays and minus above mentioned kneel, converted 2/3 other starts inside the 10.
That type success in all other field positions would've won the game.

Was I unclear? I thought I was fairly unambiguous. We're both talking about how much we love LSU Fans for talking about coaching calls. Right?

Hmmm. Sure seemed like you were cackling about LSU Fans displeasure with formations, calls, etc. Wouldn't those qualify as part of the gameplan?

You seemed to be using that example as a way to express your laughter at LSU Fans who aren't really happy with the Head Coach or the offense.
But I'm sure you're right. I'm just confused. That must be it.

Never said it was a good or bad idea.
There's been a plethora of the latter and precious little of the former from our staff on offense the past half dozen years or more.

That's a HOTTAKE if ever there was one. It's like saying that someone will win Powerball before New Year's Eve, 2016. Don't inch too far out onto that limb, Bro!

Shotgun runs give LF a few more yards of momentum that makes him even harder to stop at the LOS. I think we'll see a lot of thesense as long as our Oline can handle it unlike the Bama game. I expect some option plays with Harris too.

So since you don't remember two third down plays inside LSU's territory where LSU went pass but only had one receiver actually run a route, this is the ranting of a clueless rantard?
That's some rock-solid analysis and objectivity on display there if ever there was one.
Oh hey...by the way..I'm not the only one who noticed that type of offensive gameplanning.

I could keep going, but who wants to read a "clueless rantard," when they can read your manna from heaven...Please. Continue educating us all.
ETA: I'm not-at any point-talking about formations or breakdowns. So leave your oranges at home. We're talking about Apples. How you like 'em?

see that's what I thought at first but then you ended it with saying I don't know anything about football and that threw me off. I see you edited that part out now
As for the rest, I'm to lazy to break down and argue every sentence of your post like you did so we'll chalk it up to a mis-understanding and agree that a lot of fans on here have knee-jerk reactions to playcalls......bro

You mean when the TE was wide open underneath and Harris threw an incredibly inaccurate ball, likely because of his injury.
That should have been at least a 3-4 yard gain on 1st down.

Here's a link to the harris interception. It wasn't some great play or read by the defender.
