I don't want to carry around these two giant fobs swaged together, is there a trick to find out the door code?

Try asking the company you rented the car from instead of tOT.

usually on a tag inside the paperwork in the glovebox.

It had 21 miles on it, so I'm pretty sure it's still be in there. Thanks.

I had a Chrysler rental a couple of weeks ago and it had the key you leave in your pocket and press the button outside to lock the doors and the button by the wheel to start. I liked that.
(I didn't like prepaying for a FULL size car and getting a Chrysler 200 though )

car rental keychains are usually a nice sized cable and you can't seperate the keys.
(I've never been given two fobs though )

Cut the cable holding the two fobs together. I do it all the time.

I rented a new fusion last week. It was nice but that shite on the door seemed unnecessary.

Nothing in there but a damn insurance type card.
Any other ideas?

Judging from the keys I'm guessing it's a 2017 Fusion, right?

Yes.
Cut the cable. They won't charge you for it as long as you return both fobs and the tag.

Yep. It's nice. CarPlay is cool.

I can pull the two laser etched keys out, but there's no key hole in the doors. I can't cut the cable.

I would call the location you picked it up from and see what they say.
