My point is kentwood, and Amite are terrible schools and don't prepare these kids for college.
Being an Alum of KHS, I'm willing to admit that the kids aren't prepared for college. However, I KNOW IT'S MORE ABOUT THE RIGOR THE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES FOR THOSE SCHOOLS, THAN THE ABILITY OF THE STAFF AND STUDENTS! Your attitude is why what's being done at those schools is allowed to continue.

Stop yelling, mfr. We can hear you fine.

So your saying the school board has set lower standards for kentwood high than are set for Ponchatoula high? I don't buy it, but if you have something to back it up I will listen.

You continue to bad mouth these schools, you need to get more involved. When do you have time to visit the schools? I want you to visit every elementary school in the parish beginning with O.W. Dillon. I guarantee you will quickly see the difference. The standards are the same, in that both schools are graded the same. Kentwood and Amite have a higher % of students from poverty stricken homes. DOE's research shows, it's difficult for those students to perform at grade level. So instead of challenging every student at the same level, those schools are giving a slower track. I prefer one rigor standard across the board regardless of the financial status of homes.
I would love to treat you to lunch and have this discussion.

Not sure where to post this and I don't believe its thread worthy. But, I really wish we had gotten Adoree Jackson. Dude is a beast.

The difference between Ponchy and Kentwood are just the kids that go to the schools. Parents of low income students seem to not care as much about education as others. The only people at fault for the failing of Kentwood are the parents of those students.

Perception is not reality! When do you have time to visit the schools?

My former career was teaching and coaching. Part of the reason I got out was having a ton of failing students whose parents didn't care.

bullshite statement. I'm a teacher in a somewhat diverse district with some poor schools. When I was in a low income area I had many parents who were extremely concerned about the education of their kids. I rarely saw parents who were middle class with low performing students.
And you can't tell me a district won't have different expectations for different sets of socioeconomic situations. They absolutely do and it's not right. Everyone knows that the kids will do what you truly expect of them. They know when you don't expect shite from them so they give you just that, shite.
