God! What an amazing episode! That battle sequence was fricking epic and Sansa is turning into a bad bitch. Was a little more sad when the giant died than I was when Rickon got shot though. But definitely one of the better episodes of this season I would say.

This is definitely the best episode of the season. I was screaming "zig zag" but Rickon kept running straight. Ramsey had the military understanding of a seasoned campaigner his management of his forces was truly impressive. He understood how to surround Jon in the fog of war. The rescuing army trope is played out. Please don't do it again.

Sansa is a Sith and despite how cool wielding two light sabers can be I can't root for one. She is a Tully so hate is in her DNA. She could some a number of lives by telling the truth but the girl is devious. Jon should watch his back around her. Davos has watched Melisandre do some pretty demented stuff so he should put his grief in check and stay focused on the long game. Mel maybe needed in the future.

Tyrion makes a convincing advisor. I thought Dany would go full Aerys but she restrained herself. The dragons were awesome. Did I say the dragons were awesome? I'm so looking forward to next Sunday but then comes the long winter before the next episode.

Nothing good ever happens to a Stark.

So, for all practical purposes, Ned Stark's line is gone, if R+L=J, right?

Sansa isn't a "Stark" - as she will take her husband's name. Sansa (or Arya for that matter) will take her husband's name, and regardless of the hereditary "Stark" blood, will not be a Stark as that term is widely used in Westeros. Rickon is dead (on the show, at least) and Bran has other duties and is unlikely to father any children.

Any other hypothetical Stark heirs aren't Starks (if R+L=J&M, even). And, let's face the brutal realities. After this latest Battle of Winterfell, the North won't have an army to speak of for a generation, and that's before they fight the Night King's army.

Interesting times. For show purposes, I would kill all the male Umber and Karstark heirs and give Last Hearth to the Mormonts. The Glovers would be on probation and I would expand the holdings of the surviving wildling "lords" and the Reeds.

I'm just checking into this thread, but can we assume that three northern families are now extinct?

Boltons are obvious.

Umber lost his carotid artery to cannibalistic experimentation.

Karstark - gotta be dead, or soon to die.
