If you release a Top 5 after you verbal, then you are not committed

Young Mr. Guidry, we are looking at you.
LINK
Please save the "nobody is committed until they sign LOI." We all know this.
In this particular case, it is not even a verbal commit imho.
I am looking forward to some clarification.

He's right tho. It's silliness. Doesn't seem emotional to me. Seems typical now to tell people they are overly emotional, insensitive, etc for stating the obvious. The kid isn't committed if he's dropping a top 5 after committing. I wish I could fast forward thru recruiting. No one has the right to say anything bad about this kid or be surprised if he flips at some point. He's not ours yet. Just another recruit.

I don't understand him committing. Why commit and then talk about a top 5 not even a month later?
I think every fan (not just LSU) that follows his recruiting should consider him not committed.

Makes no sense but if the coaches think it's ok to take his commitment then whatever. They know better than we do that nothing is written in stone until the ink dries

Makes zero sense! But hey these are the kids of today!

the recruiting process is a fricking circus for so many kids nowadays because of the money and attention they get

You may be right, but kids these days love the attention.

Eh, not really that big a deal. A lot of kids don't keep their committment but some college coaches don't necessarily keep their commitments to the kids. It sucks but ultimately both sides have to do what's best from themselves. Unfortunately it makes sense for some kids to keep the door to other programs slightly ajar in case things go wrong.

I'm 100% committed to my wife.
My top 5 in no particular order
Sofia Vergara
Leah Michelle
Maria Menunos
Ali Landry
Vanessa Marcil
I'm 100% committed but I will take my visits. I'm committed at this time, but you never know.

Seems to be quite the peacock.

Actually it is more like,
"I am committed to my fiancé, and here are my top five women that I am going to go on dates with and decide which one I'm going to marry...."
See how far that gets ya!!

Normal people like me and you can't get away with that. When you're incredibly desirable within your field, like Guidry, you can.

Rouge the impeccable logic of your post seems to be missed by the majority of recruits.

This is a good point. Sums up a lot. Can't hate on the people with options WHILE they have them. The issue is the circus surrounding recruiting and how it effects the look at me culture that these kids are wrapped up in.

Personally I think it is a bunch of BS and his offer should be pulled. I don't care how good he is, if you commit there isn't a top 5 publicly. You can have that in private but you don't go out with it nationally. It is an embarrassment to the program IMO. You don't verbal and then say "oh wait here is my top 5 if the other 4 want to start recruiting me harder there is a chance you can be my leader." I do realize as everyone else does that it is not a commitment until the ink drys, but if you want someone to respect you it has to be a two way street. And what he did was not a sign of respect, just the opposite!!!

How many kids from his hometown have we signed? Did Willie Baker get an offer? What about this kid Patrick Queen? He will stick to his commitment. I think he is just wanting to enjoy the process and attention. That community lives LSU.
