Teamviewer Hacked

I know this has been going around Reddit, but Teamviewer has been getting hacked. Usually I take these reports with a grain of salt, but my buddy just recently got hit.
They logged in to his computer using Teamviewer. Once logged in they had access to his Google account since his password was saved. Once in Google, since he used Chrome, every username and password he saved is logged and can be seen.
Buddy got his 500K Hilton points stolen and money charged to his paypal.
I have since uninstalled.

You have to type the windows password to get the passwords to show up.

Teamviewer denied their site was hacked last week (called it an internal DNS issue) and now they are saying a significant number of accounts have been abused. Great management there.

Both of my grandparents have this installed on their computers, as it's 100x easier to fix whatever issue they've created when I can just remotely log in. From what I'm reading, this hack doesn't affect the free/personal version of TS where the computer ID and PIN change constantly, but only affects the people that had actual Teamviewer accounts?
I'm still going to get them to uninstall, just wanna make sure I don't have to have the "you might wanna check your bank/CC accounts" talk if I don't have to, as they surely will freak out.
