FIFA 17 Thread

(No, I'm not putting this in the FIFA 16 thread. No, I'm not putting this on the Gaming Board.)
Here's the link to the new FIFA trailer: LINK
The highlights, from what I can tell...
- JOSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
- The intro with clips from all the old games was awesome to see. Took me back.
- The new "football ambassadors" are James, Martial, Hazard and Reus. If we can get a cover that doesn't have Messi on it, that'd be nice. (Even though I don't buy physical copies of games anymore.)
- New tunnel and locker room shots of Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford, so they'll be rebuilding the stadium atmospheres from the Ignite engine.
- The managers actually look like people, and they can walk! Maybe that means we can finally create a real manager in Career Mode.
- The brief glimpse of Reus with the sunset in the background is promising. Frostbite, the new engine, has dynamic weather and time progression in other games.
- That Hazard face render is ridiculous.
- And we'll get more on Sunday.

Jose
ETA: I expected them to make soon-to-be Ballon d'Or winner Eden Hazard look great, so no surprises there.

Also, frick the Gaming Board.
I play 2 games: FIFA and NHL.
That place is a haven for nerds.

Been reported for several months now, really happy that it's confirmed.
Can't wait to see how shitty the Nike template looks.

Well, yeah. I knew that.
I just remember rumors saying that GTA 6 was going to use it.

Educate me on this frostbite engine and why it would be good/bad for the game please

If they eliminate the scripting I might buy it. FIFA 15 and 16 have made me want to break the disc in half. It's amazing to me how my team can play so well one game and then the next play like they're drunk and a two star. This is online play head to head by the way. Don't even get me started on ultimate team. That shite is a sham.

Frostbite is a much nicer engine developed for DICE, the developer behind the Battlefield series. Should lead to a lot easier implementation of graphical updates and changes, while also forcing EA to redo the framework of the game entirely. No reusing code or previous work.

Prediction: EA puts out basically a carbon copy of FIFA 16 but with some extra glitter to distract players from the fact that no effort has been put into improving the actual gameplay.
ETA: New engine could be a game changer, but that could also mean starting at square one in terms of glitches that need to be worked through with each successive version, i.e. through balls not working right or defenders switching off constantly.

Or maybe the new engine will mean we'll get a brand-new set of glitches completely unrelated to the past editions.
If they fix some of the long running issues in manager mode, I'll be pleased. You know gameplay is gonna have to be adjusted a good bit with sliders.

That's my fear, and exactly what I expect to happen

So FIFA came out with a trailer for "The Journey," which is a player career mode that looks like the British version of the MyPlayer stories in NBA 2K.
LINK
(Warning: The player in the trailer plays for Manchester United. But Jose Mourinho looks like Jose Mourinho on the touchline, which is encouraging for manager career mode.)
I found player careers in FIFA incredibly boring with no real depth, so this may give me something to do when I get burnt out on manager mode. I'm guessing FIFA just offers this mode with EPL teams and British create-a-players due to their deal with the league. But it might be a thing where different release zones get different stories.
If they do this without touching a thing with manager career mode, though, I'm gonna be Mad Online.

All I know is that Alex Hunter is a pussy for playing with his shirt tucked in.

Quite nice. Interested to see the details of how this works out.

Just watched the presser. Jose made an awkward appearance.
New game trailer, not that much interesting shown yet.
Talked about a reworked free kick system and the usual promises of better AI, physics, and shooting techniques.
No word on any UT updates or manager mode tweeks.
