Agree with this guy. There isn't much to do in Birmingham, but the obvious things are not too bad. It's a decent city but the whole culture is not a lively one.

As far as food, it is top heavy. The good restaurants are indeed good, but there aren't tons and as per the para above, there isn't much to do so they could get crowded. Most recs I have seen in this thread are good places. The Avondale area is not bad, I haven't spent time there in a few years but this seemed to be the more up and coming area of the city for nightlife.

It's a really pretty town, there just isn't too much to do. But for a few days, you could keep yourself occupied. I know this post isn't the most helpful but maybe will help with what to expect

I disagree. There is plenty to do around here. Outdoor activities, breweries, concerts, etc

Great place to raise kids.

Not too much in the way of clubs. The folks around here won't have sex standing up because they fear it might lead to dancing. Major-league stiffs. Wouldn't swing if you hung them.
