hitting .346 through 32 games

still no power, but I NEVER thought he would do this well in the minors.
also 5th in the league in stolen bases with 14

Why not? He can hit

Should be a solid leadoff guy, right?
No power, but can make a lot of contact and can absolutely fly around the bases.

i just did not see his slap hitting style translating to the professional level this well
as i said, i hope his success continues

When should he get called up to AA?

There are numerous guys at the big leagues with limited power. If you can run and get on base a lot that is all they care about. They will surround you with guys that can drive you in.

he's a great athlete, his dad and brother are olympic caliber pole vaulters and his mom was a heptathlete

You imply you have a better eye for talent than those who make a living doing it. Hmmm. Many former LSU stars didn't hit so well when freshmen or sophomores. KROB, for example.

Les, you nailed it with your input

Great for Stevenson. Pitching is serious in AA. Hopefully when he gets there he can continue hitting.

Did you stop following LSU baseball after his freshman year?

that would be Antoine Duplantis

He was in the radio booth for one of the baseball games in the last couple weeks . He said he was looking for a house in BR , and was going back to school , an mba i think . unless I misunderstood it sounded like his baseball career was over .

I don't believe he finished his undergrad. He probably said he's going back to finish that. His mom is a teacher, so I imagine he values an education. It was nearly impossible to pass up the signing bonus he was offered last year.
He'll be in AA by the end of the season.

Blaze Really reaching there. Ichiro is a HOF'r. Stevenson still doesn't project at the Major a League level. Glad he's enjoying his time playing.

I think that was Raph Rhymes on the radio, he was released by the Tigers at the end of Spring Training... Andrew Stevenson is a top prospect in the Nationals organization and will probably end up as a 4th outfielder/defender in the MLB in the next 2-3 years.

What do scouts know compared to the Rant.
