Some friends and I take a yearly trip to do some major whitewater rafting, but last year was our retirement year for that level of activity. So now, we still rent a cabin in the mountains/woods, but our time consists of drinking, hiking, partying, boating, swimming, etc. This year we're heading to Beaver Lake in Arkansas.

Great choice, when are you heading up there? It's beautiful up here right now.

We're staying about 5-10 minutes from Lost Bridge Marina, in Benton County (which, I just learned, does not sell booze).

Not true anymore, actually. Recently flipped over and you can buy booze all over the place!

So far we're likely going to rent a pontoon one or two days, maybe hit Eureka Springs one afternoon/evening, do a day of hiking, and probably some fishing.

Regular lake activities will be great, but there's tons to do off of the lake as well. Eureka Springs isn't too far away and it has a unique, quirky downtown area. It's a fun day/overnight trip. You can also venture into Bentonville/Rogers area as well. Several great restaurants on the Bentonville Downtown Square as well as Downtown Rogers. Fayetteville is also great but more of a drive since you already be on Beaver Lake.

If you want good hiking, check out Devil's Den (a bit south of Fayetteville) or around the Buffalo River area. King's River Falls is a great day hike/chill. Take some beer, some chairs, and get ready to swim/drink/chill.

No issue drinking on the lake whatsoever, just don't be an idiot about it. As far as if people congregate, I'm unsure on that (sorry).

If you have questions on specifics with the area, I can try to help out!

Thanks for the detailed reply. We heading there in mid June, so hopefully it'll be nice and toasty and the lake will be warmed up. And we all live in big cities and deal with a lot of noise, so we just like getting away to the mountains, water, quiet...really looking forward to it.

Is Bubba's the best BBQ place in the area?

If we wanted to do some fishing, what's our best bet? Live bait? Lures? What kind of fish? Would we be able to catch anything just fishing off the dock? My family has a lakehouse in northern Wisconsin and we can catch small panfish off the dock, but nothing of any real size.
