Michigan media now pissing on Miles

Now that Les Miles is officially out of the running for the Michigan job, the media within the state of Michigan is now trash-talking Miles for staying at LSU with a big raise rather than coming to coach at Michigan.
LINK
Translation: They really wanted him and are VERY upset that he's not coming home to them this year.
The funny, and deluded, part of the whole article is when they start pissing and moaning about how it was all about money and that it was never about money with Bo, Gary Moeller, or Carr.
If nothing else, this shows the arrogance of the Michigan fanbase.
They feel they could have any coach in the country they want, below market value at that, because of the history behind the Michigan name.
"What coach would want to stay in the SEC when they could come to the Big Ten, where the big boys play, and coach one of the most historic programs in NCAA history?"
They're probably going to be dealing with the same kind of overblown expectations that Notre Dame had when they chased after Urban Meyer, yet were rebuffed because Meyer was offered the Florida job, one of the top positions in the recent college football landscape, and get paid a ton of money to do so.
Their new target, Brian Kelly, may be interested in going to Michigan, but a guy who jumps jobs like he has will tell tell them to stick it up their arse if they low-ball a contract offer.

The really funny part is that they have no one to blame except themselves. This was an inside job.

yep, sabotaged from the inside. If I were UMich, I'd focused on hating Les Miles, too, instead of having to come to grips with the political snakepit Ole BLUE has become now that Carr is hanging around.

Mitch Albom had all kinds of sour grapes on the Sports Reporters yesterday morning.

Lots of UM fans are ripping that piece. I was glad to see it.

Myself and 4 other Michigan fans here don't blame Miles one bit for sticking with LSU. In fact, we're all rooting for you guys to wipe the floor with OSU.

Apparently, I overstated things a bit when I talked down about the Michigan fanbase and the expectations of who they could get as their coach.
I think I meant to say "the boosters and decision-makers in the U of M athletics department" instead.

Like that writer would leave a job that he and his family were happy with for another job at half the salary! Even if it is your alma mater, you stay where the compensation is best, all other considerations being equal.
The hypocrisy that runs rampant in the media makes me want to puke.

I don't think they even know how to go about hiring a new coach. There's all this talk about the list of coaches they'd like but so far they're not actually contacting them. Isn't that part of hiring of a coach? If they keep dragging their feet on this they're going to end up with some B or C list coach. Seeing OSU lose is the one thing that will make me happy this season.

Nicole-
I wouldnt think yall would be bitter. Michigan is one of the most coveted jobs in all of football- you will find a good coach.
I was just shocked that the writer in the link seemed disgusted that Miles wouldnt leave a program on a roll, and take a hefty pay cut to come to Ann Arbor simply because its Michigan.

Nice, that's my name too. Good see plenty of fans not taking the bitter the route. I always had a feeling if LSU went to the championship game we wouldn't get Miles. Why leave a championship calibur team for one that needs serious rebuilding? And the one upside to all this craziness: watching OSU get beat down in the NC game again!

a lot of the detroit free press writers are just delusional and trying to pin this on someone simply because michigan is being tight-lipped about the other candidates now. they have nothing else to talk about.

to you nicole!
i think the one thing all of us wolverines can agree on now is: .
one of LSU's greatest advantages in this game is that les hates the luckeyes as much as any wolverine. he'll be out to embarrass them in the title game.

Michigan CAN be a great job, but your administrators need to get their heads out of the past or you're going to be Alabama part 2.
