Game of Thrones has a lot of characters it claims to be complete badasses in the show. If they were to all fight in a tournament set up like March Madness, who do you think would win? Here are some of the options...
Two-handed Jaime Lannister
Bronn of the Blackwater
Brienne of Tarth
Stannis Baratheon
Robert Baratheon
Rhaegar Targaryan
Ned Stark
Robb Stark
Jon Snow
Loras Tyrell
Prince Oberyn Martell
The Sand Snakes
Gregor Clegane "The Mountain"
Sandor Clegane "The Hound"
Barristan Selmy
Jorah Mormont
Grey Worm
Daario Naharis
Khal Drogo
If I'm missing any, feel free to include them in your answer.
I'm gonna personally cast my vote for Oberyn Martell. The dude had the "Mountain" beat despite not wearing any armor and drinking before the fight. I fricking hate the sand snakes, but the show depicts his daughters as being pretty tough fighters too. Oberyn is also from Dorne. Dorne is pretty badass and know for being the only kingdom to resist Aegon Targaryen and his dragons. God I wish Oberyn was still alive.

If you're taking any of these in their prime, then it's:

I still think Drogo is one of the best fighters we have seen. Not sure if he would win since he doesn't wear armor but it would still be fun to watch.

Two handed Jaime vs Oberyn Martell is a dream match

The Mountain and this isn't fricking close.

I dont get this. Yes he is the biggest, but the two times we've seen him, his character has practically lost. The jousting tournament with Loras and against Oberyn Martell.

Ned and Robert were more leader than "warrior," which is also true of Stannis (Robert in his prime being the best of the three).
Loras is the "new" Jaime and Jaime was the "new" Ser Arthur Dayne.
So, in each's prime, those are your top 3 "traditional" swordsmen for consideration as major, minor or historical characters. Barristan the Bold would probably be in the mix here as the 4th.
Obviously the Red Viper and the Mountain are fearsome warriors for vastly different reasons. Oberyn literally won the battle and lost the war in their one-on-one.
Bronn, Sandor, Brienne, Rhaegar and Daario are probably the next tier.
(For the Hodors, I understand that Rhaegar and Arthur Dayne are presented in the show as characters - yet.)

If we're talking straight up fighting and not jousting and shite, your top 5 in no particular order would be:
2 handed Jaime Lannister
Barristan Selmy in his prime
Robert Baratheon in his prime
The Mountain
Oberyn Martell
Id have to pick Jaime Lannister as the best

Seeing as Oberyn technically killed him. Yes it's pretty damn close.

Actually it would be close since O. Martell basically beat him one on one, had he finished it.

Bronn would be a strong sleeper to take out anyone.
Eta. In tourneys, Brienne beat Loras in a um swordfight, after Loras had bested the Mountain jousting (the Mountain would have chopped him to pieces had the Hound not intervened) in the tourney at KL. Also, didn't Brienne best the Hound? I forget how that actually went down when she and Pod the Sex God ran into The Hound). She also hung with Jamie, although he was shackled.
I wouldn't want any of that big bitch.

I'd choose Hound to represent me trial by combat. If he's willing to grab a Valyrian steel blade with his hands, He will give his 100%.

Don't forget the smiling knight. Not much known about him except Jaime referred him as "the mountain of my era".
Posted on 4/27/16 at 4:22 pm to NeverRains
I dont agree with Jaime, Loras, or the Hound. Im surprised/not surprised no one has picked Brienne. She's boring, but she beat Loras one on one, she beat the Hound one on one, and she held her own with Jaime Lannister.

I wouldn't frick with any of those giants.
I'll always pull for Bronn. He's one of my favorite characters, if not my favorite.

Bad idea bro. He got his shite pushed in by a girl.
