Looking for Houston bar recommendations

Something casual with a good bourbon and beer selection. We will be staying in the willowbrooke area this weekend for the cigar festival and looking for a bar to hit up afterwards. I don't mind taking uber since there isn't much to do in this area. Tia
Will also take recs for what to do during the day Saturday before festival.

paging List
you won't be terribly far from Brash and Petrol Station, and very close to 11 below

You're pretty far removed from anything inner loop worth visiting. It would be one heck of an uber ride to get to any of them. I'll have to defer options to other people who actually live or visit that direction

I'm the only one on here from the area, but I don't have many recs for him.
He'll be 5 minutes from 11 Below. Rockwell may be under water today, I don't know but it's in Cypress.
I'd still go inside the loop.

11 below pretty cool joint? We don't mind taking an uber but not a 40 min one.

They have 1 really good beer, Negative Space, but the others are honestly not that good. (Now I'll get blasted.)
Now that I put more thought into it, check out Whitmeyer's Distilling Co. It is just after Willowbrook Mall off 1960. There's a guy I've run into a few times who works there. He just told me last Wednesday that they were opening a new patio and humidor for cigar lovers.
I've been meaning to check them out.

Honestly, the west side doesn't have the most reputable beer and whiskey lounges. City centre isn't too far and you can grab a bite, but if you're looking for depth of selections, it's not the place. The former staff at radio milano had some talent, but they're all gone and I haven't been in a while. Otherwise you have Yardhouse and Straits there. Ashford Pub, Richmond Arms, Rons Pub are a bit more of a drive outside the loop on the west side.
Inside the loop everything will be a ride: Anvil, Woosters Garden, public services, poison girl

I work in that area and can't think of anything I'd recommend up that way. It's just an area without a ton of character but there might be something in the Vintage Park area near 249 and Louetta but not sure. It should be known that Cottonwood, Shepherd Park Draught House, and Petrol Station would probably take you about 20-25 minutes any time that isn't 4-630pm and would definitely fit the bill.
If you don't want to travel far, I'm pretty certain you could enjoy yourself at the new El Tiempo, Peli Peli, or Torchy's Taco's in that Vintage Park complex. All have a bar with a decent atmosphere and pretty good food. Peli Peli being fairly expensive but popular even though I'm not a huge fan...

Yes. All will be open. Cottonwood is the place I met you at last year before the cigar fest.

Just a heads up, Petrol is beer and food only while Cottonwood serves liquor. You mentioned you wanted bourbon. Karbach is also a decent option for good food and beer.

Appreciate it. Is karbach near these two?

I think that's a solid decision and worth a bit more travel. I would say Cottonwood is a better experience for fun because it's much bigger and there'll likely be some kind of live music on the patio. On the other hand, Petrol is small and I think pays a bit more attention to the food and maybe the beer but I'm not beer picky enough to be overly hard to please so take that FWIW. The burgers at Petrol are about as good as you'll find.
