We are staying at an all inclusive resort. Should be bring any cash? We don't plan on doing any excursions. Our transportation from the airport to the resort is paid for. What things should we look out for?

Yes. Bring lots of cash if you want preferential treatment

Like how much cash? We thought about bringing $100-$200

Waiting on the get out of the resort and go out and mingle with the locals and watch people cook tamales in their front yard crowd.
OP, a couple hundred bucks would probably be fine

I would bring at least $1000 just in case. You may need some to buy drinks and stuff at the airport waiting for your ride.
Also, go to the bank and get a bunch of small bills. It's hard for them to break large bills and you don't want to end up with a ton of pesos.

We were thinking like $200 in $1. We won't bring much more than that

Bring $300-$500 imo. When you first get to the pool bar, introduce yourself to the bartender, order a drink and tip him $10. That will ensure you won't wait for a drink anytime he bartends. Also, like previous poster said, drinks in the airport, tshirt at the resort, etc
Whatever you do, don't forget sunscreen. They charge $50 for that shite at the resort.

Some places you'll have the same servers all week. If so, give them a big tip the first day. They will give you service ahead of others and maybe even extras you didn't upgrade for.
Also, don't go anywhere overseas with only $100 cash.

This. $1000 may be steep depending on days there and how much you drink.
Tipping well is the difference in shots of "Cuervo" or bottles that say "Tequila". And beer. Good corona or cheap corona. There IS a difference. A couple bucks with every round is going to make a huge difference.
Remember to hoard bottled water. Leave a bottle on the sink for brushing teeth and in shower for rinsing mouth, if you do so in the shower. Or washing your face if you have a beard.
Good resorts have what you need for montezuma in their gift shop. Cipro or Bactrim and Imodium.

Eventually you will want to leave and go to Carlos and Charlie's (I don't know if that still exists been 2007 when last in Mexico). Cab fare, cash in bar so you're not worrying about credit card and peso conversion scaring you on the bill.
Dollar bills in Mexico are like $20 bills in a strip club. They make the entire experience better. Minus a rub and tug. I wouldn't try that shite in Mexico.

Please don't listen to the people telling you to carry $1000 cash on you. That's what ATMs are for.

As far as drinking the water at the resort... I know not to drink tap water. So we will only drink bottles water. We will put travel notices on our credit cards. What about cell phones? What should we do about that?
Posted on 4/3/16 at 8:24 am to TechDawg2007
Airplane mode, connect to resort wifi
Posted on 4/3/16 at 8:25 am to TechDawg2007
For your cell phone call your provider and add international calling for about $5/month. Only use your phone if you have to bc it is still abou $0.50/minute.
Don't text because it starts to add up quick with international texting
TURN OFF DATA ROAMING or you will get raped on data charges

So if we are on airplane mode using wifi and we text or FaceTime someone will it use our data?

Why don't you wanna do excursions or leave the resort to explore? Just sitting at the resort will get boring.
