When was he ever a student?
The kid had one foot out the door as soon as he got here. He wasn't interested in any education
And 99.9% of people in his position would have done the same thing staring at $100 million plus.

Good for him. He's about to get paiddddd.
I can't believe out of everything, people are upset that he's hired an agent.
"Agghhh! I can't believe what everyone knew was gonna happen is happening!!!!"

Buddy hield should definitely be drafted before him, with buddy you have a leader and character on the court on top of beast shooting and ball handling
People said the same stuff to argue why Jimmer Fredette should be drafted over One and Done X that year.

It's because of how quickly it happened, dummy.

No one is shocked or upset he hired an agent. They're shocked an upset he may have done it before he ever got to campus, which could royally frick LSU.

Good deal, dudes about to make millions, glad we had chance to see him play at LSU, ben was always going to be a one and done player, he could have gone anywhere in the country but he chose the purple and gold, I hope he has a great career
People just need to get over this season and finally swallow the bitter pill, hopefully next year will be better, I'm actually rooting for Blakeney to stay and take over the team, he came on strong the back half of the season

Point out where I said they wouldn't.
But to call the kid a "student" is misinformed at best, disingenuous at worst.

What kind of legacy will this kid have?
I would think that you'd need to be at a place, job, school, team, program, etc. for more than 1 year/season to leave a legacy.
He's just a kid who wore #25 for a season and put up some good numbers...that's all.

I mean, the season is over and every day he doesn't sign is a day he's not earning endorsements and the like, so....I mean how can you fault him for that? It's not like his family is wealthy.

exactly. It's not that Ben did it, it's just how immediate it was. Looks bad.
Just wait a short time to let the furor of the A&M loss die down a little.

Does "passion" mean team wins?

The college basketball rule is shite. Why make them attend a university if they can go to the NBA after only one season?
Basketball should be similar to baseball. They should be able to go pro after high school. If they choose to attend a university they have to stay 3 years or 2 years if they reach 21 years of age prior to June 30th.

Start connecting the dots.. I believe that they informed LSU that he would not be playing in the NIT. LSU just got out in front of the issue and declined the bid.
People said he was uninterested at times, well this would explain where his head was at. They hired his sister in 2014 to work for the agency. This plan was in work for awhile now.

I thought LeBron owned his own sports agency firm

The kid is going to make over 100 million dollars in a shoe deal plus a lottery NBA contract. WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE STAY IN SCHOOL? That is not counting any other endorsements, he has the potential to be one of the highest earning sports figures ever.

It's the NBAPA rule, NOT the NCAA.

Not sure why you guys are upset at this news. It was known from day 1 that Simmons was a one and done player.
The season is officially over with so now it's time for him to sign with an agent.

I am pretty sure that is a violation.

Seeing how this season played out, I would have preferred he take his game elsewhere and play. Too much hype and distraction to ever live up to expectations.

Time to get paid. Do what you do, Ben.
