if Ben spent almost all of his offensive time at the high
or low post?
That's what he did against North Florida, result was 43 poinrs

They would've been best served if he could make an elbow or mid range shot to stretch the defense just a hair to open up his driving lanes and the cutting lanes for the guards (if they ever moved)
e zones teams played against LSU just compacted because there was no threat and Ben would try to back down on the block where I believe his game is average at best. Yes he had 43 vs N Fla but they don't have the beef that he was facing in just about every other game

I think the BB team would have been better without Ben on it - if we are going to struggle, at least get the young guys some playing time and learn instead of catering all year.

Take by far the best player on the team off it and reallocate his minutes to Malone, Robertson, Epps and Bridgewater and be better off....brilliant!

Also, the athletic department would have taken in a lot less revenue.

No. They don't play defense or have any understanding of how to play team defense.

Yes, because everyone is complaining about the revenue taken in on here today. That revenue sure showed its face today!

Not better off, but if we're going to the NIT then I'd rather them play significant minutes then go to the NIT with the "next Lebron James".

By that logic, we would have been better off with no Hornsby? He won't be here next year, just as well let the young guys play?

Not even talking about Hornsby here - I'd rather see the young guys get minutes and improve instead of running an offense thru someone that looks like he doesn't even want to be here.

Ahh, the old "Ben doesn't want to be here" narrative that there is no evidence to support.

You put in for those NIT tickets I assume? Congrats on the double-double season!

Nice strawman!

I think Ben is a great kid and we all wanted him to be the player he's not. BUT, those same expectations will be on him in Philly or LA so how will he respond to that? He couldn't respond here, good luck in those cities!

He averaged 20-12-5 while shooting 56%, what did you want? The team was a colossal trainwreck, but wasn't Ben by far the bright spot? Why are people blaming him?

He's no leader, has no killer instinct. There's no reason this team should have been a trainwreck - he should have come in and let it be known from day one that it's his team. That's not his personality, we get it. For being the potential number 1 pick in the draft, shouldn't you have those intangibles and a jump shot at least?

My favorite thing about the "Blame Ben" crowd is that they all seem to think that both he a.) isn't as talented as the hype and that he b.) didn't care or try. But that is an epic contradiction. The one thing not in doubt is that he had one of the best statistical freshman seasons ever. If he isn't that talented, he must have put in Steve Wojciechowski, slapping the floor like effort to put up those numbers. Or if he didn't care, he must have been the most talented player ever to put up those numbers. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

quote:the team made the NCAA tournament last season, you lost Mickey and Martin, kept the rest, and added Victor and Blakeney, and "the best prospect in a generation". In college basketball, that should have been enough to at least stay even.
The team was a colossal trainwreck,
quote:No, in every BIG game we won, Quarterman seemed to mean more. Also in the Oklahoma loss.
but wasn't Ben by far the bright spot?
quote:Hype. Kid was supposed to be sensational. He wasn't, he put up a ton of meaningless stats but disappeared when the team absolutely needed a star to step up.
Why are people blaming him?
I really don't care if Simmons can score 40 pts on North Florida. I'd like to see 20 pts once against A&M (3 times), Kentucky (twice) or Oklahoma, before he's proclaimed The Greatest.
