Saints "showing interest" in Colts TE Coby Fleener

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Saints are interested in free agent Coby Fleener.
Per La Canfora, the Saints had been pursuing Ladarius Green, but he's expected to sign with the Steelers. Fleener is the kind of pure pass catching tight end that's had great success under Sean Payton and Drew Brees. He'd be firmly on the TE1 radar in New Orleans. Mar 9 - 3:46 PM

good consolation prize to Green I guess. Almost rather draft a guy

50 catches in each of the last 3 years.
Not a game changer, but he's what I thought Hill would be at the very least.
At least we tried for green?

Wouldn't hate signing Fleener, but agreed. I really think our available FA money should go towards a Guard, and front 7 defensive players, but there is a pretty big hole at TE currently.

I'd be ok with Fleener. Solid production without breaking the bank. Should leave us enough money for a legit OG.

6'6 runs a 4.5. We had a guy like that before that was good with Drew brees.

Indy beat writers think he'll command around 4 mil per

I'd be ok with that. Sign a Guard and a WR, all defensive draft.

That would be fine
Brees could turn him into a monster

If that's it, then I can definitely live with that. However, I was thinking closer to $6-$7.

FWIW, he is ranked 3 spots higher than Green on PFF.

He can be fine replacement but doubt this. Colts throw to the TEs plenty and he obviously has a well established rapport with their QB.

This would be a real solid signing. I can get behind this one for sure.

Could do worse, do think he could have big numbers.
Anyone know if he has dropsies? One thing I noticed was his catch % of targets-
Targets/Catches
48/26
87/52
92/51
84/54
311/183 for 4 years, 59% catches
Saints TEs had 156 targets (& 101 receptions) last year.
