re: IMO Brandon Harris isn't bad

To say he's not good isn't really fair. He is good, but I think we are expecting numbers out of him that aren't reasonable considering his skill set. Since we have a stacked running game, we'd like a QB that could distribute the ball like Mett could. I think in the Georgia game in '13 he had touchdowns to multiple receivers. That's just not Harris's game. And to compound things, our coaching staff doesn't utilize him properly either. They should be using him like a Vince Young. Vince wasn't an exceptional passer, but when he was on the move and in space he did the most damage.

This will be the year for mr Harris. This year will decide if LSU should stay with him any longer or not. I think he will play well this year.

Harris was pretty poor last year, but I WRs were awful as well, at least the first half of the season.
Games against Syracuse and Eastern Michigan were downright dreadful for the QB and WRs.
Harris was pretty bad in his check downs too. I remember so many times where Fournette could have converted 3rd downs, or had long gains or scored TDs, but Harris was too locked in to down field covered WRs.

That's a fact. Can't tell you how many parties I've been to where only like 20% actively watch the games, even self proclaimed huge fans.

I think Harris could and should improve. Maybe the injury did hurt him, but I saw him over throw receivers from game 1 to game 13. But to say the coaches held him back because he threw an int against Bama is just false.

Brandon Harris tied for 2nd place all time for passing attempts in the OM game, at 51 attempts. The whole premise of your argument is that we shut down passing, and we threw more times than we had in 16 years.
In the arkansas game, it was 35 times. I don't have the complete stats available to verify, but an average of 43 times per game appears to be the most ever attempted by an LSU Tiger in a 2 game stretch. Rohan Davey had 44 and 43 in one season, but weren't consecutive, and would only be .5 attempts over.
LSU was down 21-0 to Arkansas and 24-0 to Ole miss which led to a large amount of pass attempts. Not due to the fact that Lsu was handing the ball to Brandon Harris and unleashing him. Hardly a great situation for success.

Was about to post the same thing. When you're getting run out of the stadium very early in the game, we had to abort the running game and just start chunking the ball around just to play catchup. We did good to cut the lead to 7 against Arky and then gave up a long KO return that led to a FG and the lead was double digits once again.

quote:You are working hard to rank one QB over the other. The stats are like comparing a 57% free throw shooter to a 62% shooter. Marginally better over the season, but you aren't going to let either one get fouled at the end of the game.
You could have googled this yourself, but you wanted to be a hypocrite instead I guess.
Harris vs Jennings
% 53.8 > 48.9
YPA 7.82 vs 7.10
TDs 13 > 11
INTs 6 > 7
Yards 2,165 vs 1,611
Rating 130.6 > 118.3
Rushing TDs 4 > 0
Damn those stats
Why don't you go ahead and give an objective argument on how Jennings was equal to Harris
Posted on 3/6/16 at 10:05 pm to marcnbc
I would agree if LSU hadn't lined Harris up in the shotgun for the first 21 plays against Arkansas. Yes they had to throw to catch up, but they started off the game throwing it. It's not like they ran ran ran punt til they were down 21 pts.

He's better in every measurable statistic. It wasn't hard at all. Context is important.
And 5% points is pretty huge in completion %. Please present there objective argument that makes them equals.

Go look at how many times he threw in those games.
I don't think he is bad, but i think the injury effected him, and he has a lot of room to improve.

I love this gradual deLSUion that has occurred between January and August for the last several years. By September Harris will be all but walking on water in the eyes of the hat worshippers. Then by November reality kicks them in the nuts once again. Absolutely nothing will change.. This mentally challenged head coach will once again do what he does... Rinse and repeat.

False

Arguable
And Jennings didn't have to play @Alabama or @Ole Miss either.

Well it certainly was a great situation for getting reps i.e. Not get shut down as was stated as the original premise of the thread.
Say what you want about Harris, but don't say he wasn't successful because of lack of opportunity toward the end of the season, because it just isn't true.

Doesn't seem like it is for you.
Sure, he has better stats, fantastic. He wasn't good. Neither was Jennings. if you don't believe me, go watch the ole miss game again. the whole thing. If you can do that, I concede any and all arguments to you.

They didn't put anything in Harris's hands. They gave up big leads and tried to make it up way to late. Also, if you think its easy to throw with a sports hernia you have no clue. The team went in with a simple to play for scheme and was out schemed.
With that said, Harris's play was subpar in those games. Be it injury or not.

I would normally agree, but I do believe this year will be different from CLM. After almost being fired last year he has to know that things have to change. Add in all the coaching changes, great hires By the way, and I think we're set up for a change. Playoffs or bust

This wasn't your argument. I don't need you to concede the argument to me. The objective facts already did that.
