WeedEater won't run. Any ideas?

I have a SRM 225 Echo. It will crank and idle, but when I give it gas, it dies. The gas is not old as I just bought it and mixed it recently. The weed eater itself is only about 2 years old. Any ideas?

Carb needs to be cleaned. Particularly the high end jet.

Spray some wd40 in the carburetor.

Get a carb kit and change the diaphragm

carb- clean or replace- NEVER use ethanol gas- if you don't use it alot - buy synthetic fuel
Only as the amount of gas you need to fuel tank. Do not leave Gas in motor
Most new carbs are junk and gum up very easily

Have you run ethanol in it?

New carbs are only like $20 on Amazon.

Definitely carb related.
I have had to replace the diaphragms alone over the years as they get hard and then the trimmer won't rev up all the way.
Depends on how long it sat since the last time it was used. Ethanol gas goes bad very quickly.

318,
Take your muffler guard off your trimmer. Look at where the exhaust comes out of the baffler there should be 1 screw holding it on. Take it out and look inside. There is a "bug screen" inside to control the exhaust that comes out. It gets clogged with smut and carbon after about a good season of use. Take it out and throw it away. Should work for you. Good luck
Ps. Don't never purchase a carburetor kit EVER you can buy a new carburetor on eBay for your model for $30.00-$45.00. They come preset so no adjusting is necessary Only 4 screws to take off

Buy yourself some lacquer thinner from the paint section of your local hardware store. Empty the gas tank. Pump the gas out of the primer bulb. Empty that gas too. Pour in about a cupful of lacquer thinner. Prime and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Prime again and start the trimmer. Only let it run for a few seconds. Empty the tank, put in gas and go about your trimming. Only if this does not work should you consider touching any tools or replacing any parts.

I got tired of this happening after a couple of years or so. I buy one that will run around $100. When it happens, throw away and go get new one.

Add Seafoam to your gas and let it idle for 30 minutes to an hour. It worked on mine with the same issue. Then, only use non ethanol.
