And when the cd came out, it was like a dream. No more rewinding, no more tape being ate, just the dreaded scratched disk, and the damn portable player skipping every 10 seconds while in your pocket!

I remember posting up by the radio with a cassette player and blank cassette ready to hit the record button to record my favorite songs from the radio back in the day.

this is how i lost my virginity..with both sets of parents in the living room.
told them we had to lock the door so no one could come in and mess up the recording.

nd after the portable CD player, we had this sweet Sony Minidisc player.
Dude I had one of those! Used to drive all over the region trying to find new albums from the few stores that carried them. Was a good format until MP3 players took off, probably largely due to Napster and cd ripping software.

I remember in the very early 2000's sitting in the dugout before a baseball game and a guy whipped out one of these. Had thousands of songs on it. BLEW OUR MINDS. Thing was a freaking brick too. Crazy now I couldn't even be bothered to keep an ipod around since my phone does everything.

This thing was all the rage when I was in grammar school....

Portable CD players fricking sucked. Skipping was the worst. I preferred a portable cassette player to the discman type machines.

Hell I remember having one of these....
WE had 4 channels, ABC, NBC, CBS, & PBS. To pick up ABC & NBC we'd have to turn the antenna one way. To pick up CBS & PBS we'd have to turn it another way. And we watched them on all on a TV like this....

I think the new fad of talking about how time has made the world different is lame as frick.
It's only been going on since the dawn of man.

If you had a 25" TV you were a straight up OT baller...
But if you had this, you were really the king of the OT ballers...

I used to watch the Dukes of Hazard on Friday nights at 7pm on a console TV like that. After that we would watch Dallas and Falcon Crest. My Dad worked shift work and when he was home on Friday nights he made us watch Wall Street Week on PBS in the Dukes of Hazard slot. Said it was his TV. All we had were CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, and WGNO out of New Orleans. Had to turn the knob from VHF to UHF to watch PBS and WGNO.

1988 Baller
I was 12 when my brother had this installed in his 1989 Ford Bronco II with a Punch 45 and 4 6X9's
I was in awe of the live EQ. I think the face was detachable too

We had a 25" as far back as I can remember which would be around 75-76. As for a remote controlled TV we got one around 80-81 or so. It had five buttons
Power
Channel up
Channel down
Volume up
Volume down
I remember it came from Sears & Roebuck just like everything else in our house from the clothes on my back to the lawnmower outside. Basically we shopped at two places, Sears and Win-Dixie. Everything you needed was at one of those two places.
