Whenever I get a running shoe, I go to a running shoe store (better catch it huh? ) and try them on. They usually tell you what kind of shoe you should have and the ones I have been to also have a treadmill so you can try them out.
I have wave creations and I like them.

No, that's fine.
I just meant it may not be a very supportive shoe.

All I ever get was around 300 out of my Asics.

I have two pair of Brooks that I rotate with each run. I currently have 372 miles on one pair and 348 on the other pair. I definitely recommend Brooks - but have a good friend that also recommends HOKA's. HOKA's are a bit much (in the look department) for me, but again, to each his own.

Agree. I switched over to Brooks this last time.
Like'em a lot.

Excellent idea.

Not as comfortable or supportive as others I've tried (I'm about 215). The tunnels also catch water and spray your calves if you run on pavement that is wet. Try the Asics Gel Nimbus. I've had about 5 pair and they are awesome (and cheaper).

I'm a heavy heel striker and I've pounded down the cushion long before 250.

I must be too.
I usually find 'em getting uncomfortable around 250. Can push 'em for a few more runs, but that's it...
I notice it in my shins...

mine have worn very well. i don't know how often you change shoes but for a runner you shouldn't go longer than a couple of months
I like Brooks ghost 7
I buy a pair just to run in it for a few months, retire them to just everyday wearing, and buy a new running pair.
Since I am not in school and cannot wear running shoes or sandals everywhere my shoes last a lot large

light running (about 15 miles a week)

I hear HOKA's can be very comfortable, but they look so bulky. I think I may try a pair of Newtons eventually as well. But Brooks certainly work for me. Just a little wide up front, but I could have ordered a narrow.

To be fair, that would be about 780 miles per year, which is a decent amount.
I guess the "light running" description threw me.

StarkRebel, what do you find funny about running only 15 miles a week?

I've got a pair of Wave Sayonara 2's that I love. They don't make them anymore. Second straight pair of mizunos that have been discontinued after I find one that I like.

Most runners I know personally and those on this board seem to run way more so I assumed that would be considered light.

At first, I thought so too.
That's about all I run, but I don't know, maybe most run more?
Speaking of which, my FitBit screws me out of a mile every time I run.

I see people on here talking about going for a ten mile run like it is nothing. I would probably die if I tried to run ten miles nonstop.

Wait, what is this? I've got over 600 mi in my Sayonara 1s and it's the perfect shoe. Surely Mizuno is not leaving the performance trainer category. I've got to check on this.

As slow as I run, I'd have to grab a Snickers.

I run in Wave Prophecy's for training runs and some shorter runs. Great shoe and holds up well.
