Tell me about St Jude the Apostle School BR

My daughter was just accepted into their Pre-K class. Good school and teachers? Worth the tuition? TIA.

I have a brother in law whose 3 kids go there ... maybe 3, 5 and 7 grade? Been there since K and they seem pleased. No clue what their alternative was though. For 3 it's definitely pricey.

I taught at both public and catholic schools in EBR
The program is better in the catholic schools
She will get better schooling and social skills
I am in St. Jude's district as well, but not sure if I will move to Central or Prairieville when I have kids because catholic school tuition is ridiculous

Yeah I just looked at their website; in laws are paying nearly $16K for 3 kids. I paid nearly $12K last year for 2 in Catholic high school south of Lafayette. I don't have the luxury here of having good options.

The tuition is not that much at the Catholic schools. I have a child at St Jean Vianney and it cost around 5 thousand a year.

I went to St.Martinville Senior High
No luxury or good option there whatsoever...
I'm leaning Prairieville so traffic to/from work isn't as bad
I hear both Central and Prairieville has awesome public schools

That's where I taught..
5 thousand a year in tuition isn't bad, but how much with all the extra stuff added in... lab fees, uniforms, fund raisers, etc...

It may be a bargain but I believe that it's a huge sacrifice for them. It's not easy.

BR catholic schools...teachers are not certified and you will be teaching your kid the curriculum at home in the evenings. Dont be a sheeple... $ is all they want.

I dated one of the teachers semi-steadily in college (no pics). Nice girl and I'm sure she's a good teacher.

I know you mentioned BR but where I am, I'm pretty sure that they're all certified or close to completion of the certification. And I promise you ... I can't teach my kids anything that they're learning. I tried to help my daughter with geometry and boy did I feel like a dumbass.

Not too good alternatives in this area that I know of. It is public school or the new Charter school on Burbank. Not really sure what is a Charter school and how it compares to Public/ Private.

Colors are red and white. Football track and basketball programs. Track is by far the best sport for your kid They will meet and socialize with the kids from other schools at the track meets. Then when they go to catholic or st michael high they will already know a lot of kids. Plus they will luv it and develope good lifelong healthy exercise habits.
I think they have math and stuff like that too.

Well Im here to tell you that after 8 years of having to teach my kid in the evenings...Im done with the brainwashing of catholic schooling...the guilt and constant hand out. They will nickle and dime you to death all in the name of God. Went to Catholic school my whole life...been to the Vatican and if youve heard the story of Jesus at the Temple you'll know what im talking about. Its all about that $

I guess we're fortunate. After tuition/fees (that was all included in the $12K last year for 2 kids), there are fund raisers but there is nothing REQUIRED about them. There are incentives for selling raffle books but nothing happens if they don't.
There are the football/basketball/baseball district/state champ t-shirts etc but again, it's all optional. I don't feel nickle and dimed to death.
Sorry for the bad experience ... really. I'm grateful that it's an option where I am.

Charter schools aren't in our parish yet although they are in Lafayette parish ... what's so bad about them?? I honestly don't know.
