It's a shitty holiday for boys. When I was 7 or so I was one short of the mandated valentines for every girl, so my dad stopped at the pharmacy on the way to school and picked up a single card (which of course was a bigger, expensive card). So I caught shite all day for giving a huge card to the quiet girl who was at the end of the alphabet.
It probably made her day, though.

Do you know what day is Valentine's day?

Please remember to avoid bringing cards or candy which resemble a heart or which may contain expressions with romantic undertones.

What kind of PCbullshit school does your kid attend? I would pull them out ASAP. I would be afraid of what else they were teaching them, and how they will turn out.

Sounds like some Facebook shite.

You think square dancing is still practiced though?
Have an up vote. Had to learn that in 7th grade.

the new rule is that you have to have a card for everyone in your home room class.
No leaving anyone out.
This isn't new. I'm an old dude, and this was the rule 30 years ago when I was in elementary school.

Good. End this buy me bs holiday crap. Factoid most women file for divorce after Valentine's Day.

The worst is when your kid is having a birthday party and wants to take an invitation to a couple of his friends and told he cannot hand them to his friends unless he invites the entire classroom.
Fast forward to the party and you have 5 or 6 randoms show up that you have to pay for that do not RSVP or anything. And the icing on the cake is when the parents drop them off, they leave and come back when it is over.

I was rejected by a girl for the first time at my 4th grade Valentine's Day class party. You had to bring valentines for everyone in the class, and put them in their cubby. I chose this moment to profess to this one girl that I liked her, using said Valentine. After I had written it, I got cold feet, and decided against it. However, instead of just not giving it to her, I decided to mark out my name on the card. Not with a sharpie or anything that would actually conceal my identity, but with white out. She scratched it right off and humiliated me in front of the class.
As painful as it was, it was an important experience in my life that I would never have gotten from "friendship day.
And the object lesson here, boy and girls: always use the Sharpie.

My school would let you order a flower and have it delivered to whatever person you want at the Valentine's Day party. A parent would come in and hand the flowers out and you'd sit there hoping someone sent you a flower. I never got a flower

Wow, that seems pretty ridiculous. Why on earth does everything nowadays have to be hijacked, gutted and made into some PC bullsh*t?
I wonder who it was that was so offended by Valentine's Day and heart shaped items that they had to outlaw them.
I'm so fed up and disgusted by the self-appointed perpetually offended azzh*les who have to change everything to the way they want it to be.

You should name her here and let the OT detectives hunt her down. You will learn how fat she is, how much her trailer is worth and how many divorces and half breed kids she has.
It will renew your love with your own life.

Cause some kids get no valentines in their bags and they go home and cry.
back in the 80's and 90's; we had to bring a Valentine's day card and candy for everyone in our class (class of 25-30). hmmmm, maybe that was the beginning of the "everyone gets a trophy" thing

Do you?
They'd have "celebrated" it on Friday if they were in school this week...which they aren't.
I realize this is the internet, but not EVERYTHING needs to be fricking argued about.

Good. Although friendship day sounds incredibly stupid, at least there will finally be a break in the cycle of the idiotic holiday that is Valentines day.

meanwhile out here in SJW land, Valentine's Day in full effect

That's why we mail birthday invitations.
And my kids school still has Valentine's but it's not a public school

This has solid potential as the foundation story for a late teen horror flick.
