figured I'd get it started. I guess I will keep this first post open to updating for new spots. I will end up posting a list sooner or later, so be patient.
angler and other houstonians, please feel free to add anything new, your favorite spots and/or recommendations
pics are highly recommended.

Houston Chinatown is the real deal in terms of the restaurants and markets, but unfortunately like most of Houston, it's a string of characterless strip malls and not very walkable.
The mahatma ghandi district has some good Indian places, also.

Sinh Sinh has been a go to for viet egg rolls, won ton noodle soup, beer and black pepper crab. Tan Tan is also good and a must try there is the house special rice cake. Both places have hot pot. Golden Palace has a pretty good dim sum. Great idea for a thread!

Whenever I go to Houston, I always have to bring back a bunch of steam whole chickens for the family.

tonight's dinner from Thien Thanh Banh Cuon, which is on bellaire/boone.
banh cuon thit nuong - steamed rice paper/rolls with grilled pork, excellent with the TT fish sauce to dip
mi quang - may not look all that appetizing but was really good, especially the broth
