Then they can go get a job. You know, like people have been doing since the dawn of time. They CHOOSE this lifestyle. These aren't homeless people (the mentally incompetent who deserve help), these are professional beggars who choose to take money from soft hearted people in lieu of contributing to society. frick every one of them.

Can I sign up? I mean if he cant panhandle there because of the law, I can't either. I cna do so on weekends. Maybe 300 bucks work of lost wages. Sign me up
I don't agree with that panhandlers should be able to claim lost wages, but that's not the point in my mind.
Every American is entitled to state his/her case in a court of law, regardless of how ludicrous it is.

Half these guys have serious mental illnesses but this is the OT. People fall all over each other to prove who's the biggest dickhead on here.

Reading into this post and your previous post, I highly doubt you've ever spoken to a person in this situation, so excuse me when I say I don't put any value on your opinion into the subject.

You are so wrong but this is the OT and that makes it OK.

Not if it's just stupid. That's just a waste of time and resources. And, for even bringing the case, they should have to repay the defender and everyone other person who worked in the court during this case.

Am I to believe that someone who openly states they cringe when a companion gives a beggar money, truly takes time out of his schedule to delve into the inner workings of a beggar on a interpersonal level?
Just sayin'.

Does the state of Illinois accept IOU as an acceptable form of payment?

I was a street cop when I was younger. I have sat and talked with plenty of these folks. Unless you are a social worker, I have talked to many, many more than you. When you dig down and really get them to talk, they laugh at the people who give them money.

I never give money - I always offer to buy them a meal, though. I have yet to be taken up on the offer.

I was alluding more to the fact that these people have stories, most times a life changing event, that has led them to their current situations. Some are lazy and probably drug addicts, which has led to their demise, but other have had it bad from the get-go and at one point or another everyone needs help. It really has to be a humbling experience to stand in a crowded area in public view and openly ask for handouts, at least for their first time.

Have you ever thought about getting the food proactively and just handing it to them? I bet they take it then.

I have offered food out of my own grocery cart while I was loading my car and was refused.

I can honestly say I've never had a bum bother me in a grocery parking lot. Where the hell do you grocery shop?!?!

The only thing worse than panhandlers is the people who give money to panhandlers.
Posted on 1/26/16 at 8:59 am to ThatMakesSense
It's happened to me a few times at the Albertsons in Denham.

At a Publix between a Barnes & Noble and a Toys R Us. For some reason, panhandlers love that area. I've been approached many times at all three stores.

It's not your money. Why does it matter to you?
Would you say that people that tithe 10% to their churches are worse than the Church itself?
