450 mil would be nice I have to admit
Just increased to over $500MM
If you were to take the lump sum then you would receive $338MM BEFORE taxes.

5 minute drive. Having dinner there. I live across the river from Columbus.
It makes no sense. I drive five miles to assure that some kid in Georgia goes to college because the state of Alabama is too dumb to realize the advantages of that damn lottery.
Same here for Mississippi. PRAISE JESUS!

It's at $500m with a cash option of $306m. After taxes, you'd get around $160-165m.
If I win, I'm buying 16,000,000 "quality" ties.

Just bought 10 tickets. Let's go big money.

It automatically increases by 10 million if nobody hits the jackpot; it'll probably be around 650-700 if I had to guess.

Does anyone do the extra $1 power play thing?
Posted on 1/6/16 at 11:58 am to Commandeaux
Can you use the winnings off a previous ticket to buy a new ticket?

Most don't but if you do matching the 5 white balls will win you 2 million instead of 1, and depending on the multiplier for the drawing will multiply the other smaller winnings.

lump sum is in the neighborhood of 275,000,000 and probably still climbing
This is why I will not buy a Powerball now. This kind of jackpot will not be coming to Louisiana. The winners will end up being from up north.
I think the highest Powerball jackpot ever won in
Louisiana was around 100 million. That was someone around Baton Rouge. I live in west central Louisiana. The powers that run the Powerball are not going to let that kind of jackpot come to my area of the state

Do you realize the disposable income of other people in different states compared to Louisiana?

you should have seen the lines at the World....
and the gas station on the other side of I-20 with 3 Lotto terminals was even worse
(across the river from Vicksburg at the first Louisiana exit off of I-20)

I've bought less than ten lottery tickets in my life. I'm going to buy one after work today.

Here's an unofficial LINK to each state's Powerball sales within the last few drawings. Louisiana($1,835,872 PP-$166,025) and the luckiest state PA( $6,658,486 PP-$632,510) see any correlation?

All that shows me is that the people of Louisiana are poorer than the folks of Pennsylvania, because they don't have the extra income to spend on lotto tickets.
