Hey guys, I am currently in India spending time with my grandparents who live out here. I am in the south in a city called Hyderabad. I have not been in 4 years and a ton has changed. All photos were taken with a Nexus 6P. Anyways, here is my attempt at documenting my trip.
Day 1-
Here is a picture of my grandparent's house. They live in a CCLA equivalent and their house is very nice.
Next are some pictures from their neighborhood.
Here is a picture of a neighbor's wedding
Some odd trashcans

Here is a picture of a common SUV known as a Scorpio. If you all didn't know, any car that isn't Japanese or Indian will cost double here than in the US. So yes, a BMW 5 series is the equivalent of $100,000-$120,000. Also, diesel here is cheaper than gas, so most of the vehicles are diesel.
Here is a jeep clone
I ended up going to the meat market with my grandpa to get some goat.
Money Shot
Picture of gramps in here
After that we went to a fruit stand to pick up bananas. Here is gramps bargaining for already very cheap fruits
Interesting traffic light
After that we went home and got ready for lunch at my uncle's water park and resort. It is a pretty nice place. I will post more pics later but if you want info, it is called Dream Valley in Hyderabad.
On the way there, there was lots of goats
My uncle's dad (grandpa's brother) who created Dream Valley died a few years ago. This is his memorial stone
Under-cover where the food was served.
I got biriyani, Butter chicken, chili chicken, and gobi manchuria (fried cauliflower).
Here was my dessert, I have no clue how to describe it besides it was very good
For dinner, my grandma cooked the ground goat with chunks of goat into a dish called keema. We ate this along with a plant called gongura (looks a lot like marajuana)
We ate this with rice.
Day 2-
We started the day with my grandma making dosa with keema and pickled ginger
Next my dad's med-school classmate's son picked us up to go take us to some cool restaurants and to hang out. This first place is called N-District and is owned by a famous Telugu (language we speak/language from this area) actor.
Here is a picture of a margorona we drank. It was pretty damn good. Partial picture of my brother here.

After a small pizza (sorry, no pics) we headed out to our friend's house. Here is his diesel toyota (I wish they had there in the US)
His indoor pool
Views from the top of his house
Next we went to a place called Flying Spaghetti Monster which is an Italian restaurant.
Odd humor.
I ordered a ground lamb and pesto pasta. It was awesome.
After that, we went to a bakery/pastry shop built into the side of a Christian family's home. I got a chocolate sandwich.
Aftermath
For dinner, we ate a lamb stew cooked for several hours on an open fire. This is called paya. This pics were taken from my mom's Galaxy S5 which is why they look lower quality.
Bread it was served with
Tongue. Yes, I ate it.
Day 3-
Went to my Uncle's house for his dad's death day anniversary.
Fish and a lentel based food that has onions and other stuff in it.
That night we went with our friend again to see Creed in theaters. Here, all of the theaters are attached to malls.
Apple store.
Reclining chairs at movies cost only 250 rupees ($3.70) (finally got my feet in here ).
Finally, we went to a club (didn't think to take pictures). Here is a picture of a Benelli dealership (for those of you who don't know, yes, this is Benelli the gun company but a long time ago they split the bike and gun business into two).
I am here for 15 days so I will post more pics. I plan on going shooting soon so I can show you all pictures of how they do it here and all of the expensive arse guns here. Anyways, hope you all enjoyed it.

Awesome post. Honestly, that's way nicer than I had pictured any part of India. Very nice.

Surprised me too , all of these places are fairly new.

Great pics Chat.
Never thought India to be Westernized. I love me some Indian food, all the food looks great, even the toungue.
Are your parents from India and you live here in the States?

Parents live in BR. My dad has been here since he was 25. My mom has lived here since she was 15. I was born and brought up here.

ChatRabbit, would you consider your parents to be well off? By that I mean in the top 10% income level in India? I am trying to gauge how they would economically fit it here in say Baton Rouge. Are they in on of the nicest neighborhoods there?
Also, if one was making about $125,000 a year here what would that equate to there?
Thanks, am just curious. Great pics and nice documentary. I look forward to more...

My grandparents are easily top 5 percent. No house in their neighborhood is less than $800,000 USD. 125k a year in USD will put you up at a very high level considering how many poor people live here. Conversion is 67rupees per dollar but cost of living here is low. You could have a nice apartment and car here for that much. My parents don't live here, they live in BR. Dad is a doctor here.

Cool pics dude and I'm digging that dream valley water park. Just be careful if you go get any haircuts.

So your dad is a DR. in BR and you're visiting your Grand Parents in India? What did you Grand Parents do to become wealthy?
Posted on 12/18/15 at 6:58 am to CHEDBALLZ
These are my mom's parents. Grandparents owned a gas station near LSU for 15 years. They took that money and moved back to India and invested all their money in property and when India started developing, they sold their land to companies and wealthy people. That is how they made their money in India.
