"4 fricking years ago" and we still haven't won a single game against them yet, when teams like Ole Miss and A&M have managed to do it at least once in that timespan...

Funny you should say that. We have recruited at least 1 quarterback every year since 2006. The last year we didn't recruit one before that was 2004 when Lord Saban was here.
If you count Zach Lee and Jeremy Liggins
which you probably shouldn't

Fact? Opinion-Jan. 9, 2012 did not create the Alabama dynasty. They won the title in 2009. They were 12-2 in 2008. THey have a long history. Learn the difference between fact and opinion. You are correct in that there is not excuse for not passing the 50 yard line.

This a rational and thoughtful post. Roster management is the biggest issue facing LSU. The reason that Mississippi State had an uptick the past two years is a lot of experienced talent. It is the reason for Arkansas's uptick. But they will not stay up there as they will lose experienced talent. Alabama is the only who consistently reloads at all positions recently. LSU used to recruit that way and their misses in recruiting coupled with losing more than normal personnel to the NFL earlier has lead to the widening gap with Alabama. LSU will improve next year as they are losing less player to the NFL (last year and this year). They will be more experienced, but unless they get better at balanced recruiting, they will slide back. Having Ogeron, Steele, and Grimes on staff will continue to help recruiting on the line of scrimmage which help close the gap with Alabama. That is the biggest reason why LSU can not keep up with The Tide. The quarterback issue has been systemic, even in the years when LSU was beating Alabama. When the gap widened in the areas where LSU was on par with Alabama, that is when the gap opened up in the series. Ole Miss was able to mask their gap with Alabama the last two years due to outstanding quarterback play, Outstanding receivers, and game changers like NKiemdeche. With people like Laremy Tunsil, Laquan Treadwell, and Robert and Denzel Nkeimdeche are no longer there, you will see Ole Miss slide backwards next year, especially against Alabama.

Way back when Freshmen did not play and usually you did not play as a Sophomore either. Players did not leave early either so you had a progression. At QB you once had a Senior, a Junior, a Sophomore, etc. Then every year they moved up. Russell left early but Flynn was ready to start as a Senior. Perilloux would have moved up and etc. Now it is difficult to get a progression as players leave early, transfer, get kicked off the team, etc. You end up with Freshmen QB's, Freshmen OL, Freshmen DL, etc. If Mett had played as a Senior would have been better for the QB's.

Agreed on the Freshmen and Sophomores not playing, but developing while backing up excellent juniors and seniors, getting practice reps with the 2's and 3's, and getting stronger through Moffitt's program. However, Mett did play all five years (first at UGA, 2nd at Juco, last three at LSU), and was amazing his 5th year. If we could recruit more like him, and develop them on the same timeline (like Flynn, Mauck, etc.), we'd be much stronger at QB. The NFL CBA changes in '12 changed the college game.

So what QB is coming here next year? Since Franks is not coming, I don't see another QB coming here. We never recruit the positions we need like we should. LB, QB, and OL recruiting has not been as good over the years.

He (& LSU) backed, squirmed, wiggled and lucked into the NC in 2007 as a two-loss team. That set of circumstances isn't happening again for any team.
Very stupid statement, this! If we had the same system in 2007 that we have now, who would be the four teams in the playoffs? Not LSU, of course, because you said that "isn't happening again for any team."
In the next five years there WILL be a two loss team in the playoffs.

Just because something CAN happen (i.e. a two loss team being one of the Final Four) doesn't mean it will happen. 2007 LSU is the textbook example of the most extreme set of circumstances that the team that got to the BCS Championship Game encountered. The probability of the games of other teams falling out as they did was ridiculously remote.
Another way to ask the question: "Since 2007, how many SEC West teams with more than one conference loss have played in the SEC Championship Game?" HINT: the answer rhymes with "hero".

Well, the idea was that our coaching staff isn't recruiting a quarterback every year, and we need to because some don't pan out. My contention is that the staff did, and those are the "don't pan out" variety.

Mett was a 5th year senior his last season at LSU. QB evaluation is as big a culprit as recruiting.

Kids lose any sense of winning anything and go pro early. We will always be young when they bolt for NFL cause they don't have any faith in wining anything meaningful. Don't have to believe me. Look at the last

It's ALWAYS next year it seems because the team is always "young."

They have been saying we are young the last three years.

What was the excuse in 2014? We were young then too? Why did our dline get blown away by Miss. State last year? It was said to be a young unit. Why were we not good at QB? We were told our QB was developing and getting better. He was improving so much he barely took a snap this year in favor of one who had started one game. Please can we stop with all of the excuses. I seriously doubt that youth had anything to do with the awful special teams play and lousy place kicking, punting and kickoffs. What excuse will you allow for next season?
