Here we go. Things aren't going too well and I'm not even sure I want the team to turn it around at this point. I'm looking at a rebuild.

So let's use this thread to talk about and keep up with potential draftees if we do go that route.

We all know Ben Simmons and will all follow him closely, so I probably won't talk about him much but feel free to.

Who the top guys are will probably change a lot by the time the lottery roles around, but the top guys right now seem to be:

Ben Simmons
Brandon Ingram
Skal Labissiere
Jaylen Brown
Kris Dunn

I love Ingram's potential. Outside of Simmons, he seems like the next best thing for us. He's not shooting quite as well as I think people thought he would, but he has a ton of potential.

Yeah I didn't mention Dragan Bender.

Just looking at the write ups on him...dude is 7'1" and 215 pounds, and 18 years old. Apparently he absolutely lit up Eurocamp last year and has everyone drooling. But he has a huge buyout before 2019. Don't think that works for us.

He's a combo guard right?

This is who I want the Pelicans to draft if they get the chance. Good size and can play either guard position.

Skal will fall big. I think top 3 will end up Simmons, Ingram, Bender. Ingram is so young and long. His shot is good and will progress. He is adjusting to better talent, but I think you will see him start taking over. He is a project being so skinny, but I would love to see him as a Pelican.

I don't think a big fall, I think it's just obvious he's not on Simmons level.

Poking around Draft Express looking at wings, a guy in the late 1st, Taurean Prince from Baylor, seems like exactly the kind of guy we're looking for in the 3 and D wing mold. Good size and length (6'8 with 6'11.5 wing span), can guard multiple positions, is hitting 3s at 38.5% for his career on 3s and is in the top 8% for points off Catch and Shoot opportunities in the NCAA. He's a senior so I wouldn't expect him to rise too much (ranked 26 on DX right now), so the Cleveland pick we'd allegedly get in a Ryno for Morris trade might be enough to draft him.

I don't know. It's obvious he's not strong enough and doesn't have the feel for the game to play C, but doesn't have the shot/range to be a stretch 4. Statistically his rebounding has been awful. He was being considered a top 3 pick to start the season and compared to KAT, but it's obvious he shouldn't be.

Labissiere scored zero points and failed to grab a single rebound before fouling out in 13 minutes of play. His teammates managed to win the game without him 72-58 at Rupp Arena.

I like prince have actually watched some games of his. There are plenty of late first early 2nd steals almost every year in the draft. If we're gonna ship out Gordon/Anderson/reke or jrue we should really try to aquire a late first to try to strike gold on a good young prospect.

So, right now we're Seed 3. Let's put names on percentages:

Odds:
15.6%: Ben Simmons, SF, LSU
15.7% Jamal Murray, G, Kentucky
15.6% Brandon Ingram, SF, Duke
22.6% Skal Labissiere, F/C, Kentucky
26.5% Jaylen Brown, SF, California
4% Dragan Bender, PF, International

Pretty much equal odds for pick 1, 2 and 3. We got to AD from the 3 seed.

Our odds aside, one thing to ponder is picking in front of the Lakers, no matter when we pick. If we are at 2, and they are at 4, I wonder what they would eat to move up and land Skal Labissiere. They are gonna be so damn cap rich next year. I also wonder if Monty were here, would he push for a Twin Towers AD/Skal situation. Fun to play this game. At this point, picking 3 or 4, behind the Lakers, either Jamal Murray or Brandon Ingram would fit just fine. If we land at 5, does Dragan start looking more valuable as an asset, than Jaylen Brown?
