Relatives who don't respect "house rules" during the holidays

How hard is it not to eat on the formal sofa or not putting plates in the dishwasher to name a few. As host do you call them out or just let it ride?

Sounds like you probably shouldn't have people at your house, or socialize in general.

Lol. It's been a long week.

U expect your guests to clean their own dishes?

I'll be damned if someone comes to my house and puts a plate in my dishwasher!
* On a serious note...don't sweat all that stuff when having people over. It's not worth it.

You should charge an entry fee. Money solves all problems.

No, but I expect them not to leave them with half eaten food in the TV room.

guests load the dishwasher the wrong way anyway.
And you have a formal couch? I assume you have no kids

Call them out when eating on the nice sofa for sure. Not worried about the dishes as long as they're near the sink.

Massive verbal argument is the only solution. Make sure you tell your mom and sister they are the two biggest fricking bitches you know. They will be too busy drying their tears in the bathroom, and not eating on your formal sofa.

I understand what you are saying and most of these solo cup frickers don't. You can't put nice china and crystal in the dishwasher, I get it. I would tell them to put their plate in the sink and I will get it, but that is just me.

Sounds like you are a total douche. I'm surprised anyone would even come over.

We have one aunt who has no respect for the furniture at all. She puts her feet on them and curls up to eat.

Assign seating for dinner so that won't be an issue, if you are worried about them eating appetizers or something on your "formal sofa" maybe you should get some plastic for it next year or something. As far as putting food IN the dishwasher that is too much, most people rinse it and leave it in the sink. If these things bother you that much just don't have people over but you should just be thankful you have people who want to spend time with you.
