How do we know he can recruit?
That's why you open the checkbook to keep O and Wilson for at least one more year (learning curve).
BTW, since Frank's decomitted, has Peveto become even more expendable?

I would love the hire. A young guy with fire and proven ability to get the most out of his quarterbacks. I love the power run game as much as any old school guy but you need to have the ability to burn the defense when they put 7,8,9, and 10 in the box.

With that being said, it's not like he inherited a top notch program when he got to Houston. He has definitely turned the program around quickly....with less talent than LSU has.

i'd love to have herman. if he doesn't get the southern cal or lsu jobs this year, then he's waiting on another marquee job.

Won't be but he is the next great coach Saban, Urban Meyer level guy

You would have to be.
What he has done at his stops:
quote:
Sam Houston State
After completing his graduate assistant position, Herman joined Sam Houston State as wide receivers coach twice sparking the Bearkats to Southland Conference championships and the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs. In his first season at Sam Houston State, Herman coached Jonathon Cooper, who was named the NCAA Division I-AA Wide Receiver of the Year. Herman produced all-conference receivers in each season and produced three All-American wide receivers.
In 2004, they finished 11-3 and advanced to the Division I-AA championship's semifinals. The Bearkats' offense was ranked second nationally in passing offense, averaging 358.5 yards, while the Bearkats' 471 yards of total offense ranked fifth among Division I-AA schools.[2]
quote:
Texas State
After four seasons at Sam Houston State, Herman joined Texas State as the offensive coordinator in 2005. During his two seasons at Texas State his squads led the Southland Conference in total offense and the 2005 team ranked eighth nationally in scoring. The Bobcats went on to make a deep run in the NCAA in the team's first ever Division I-AA appearance, while Barrick Nealy finished fifth in the voting for the Walter Payton Award (top offensive player in Division I-AA).[2]
quote:
Rice
In 2007, Herman then followed head coach David Bailiff from Texas State to form the new coaching staff at Rice. With a reputation for engineering high-powered offensive attacks, Herman’s offense smashed nearly 40 offensive records during his first season as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Owls.[citation needed]
Rice ranked in the Top 10 nationally in 2008 in passing offense (5th; 327.8), scoring offense (T8th; 41.6) and total offense (10th; 472.3). Two Rice receivers had more than 1,300 yards receiving that year, tight end James Casey had 111 catches and quarterback Chase Clement was the Conference USA MVP.[2][3]
quote:
Iowa State
After building of one of the nation’s most prolific offenses at Rice, Herman joined the Iowa State as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.[1][4] Herman installed his system and brought new life into the offense.
During his three seasons at Iowa State, the offense improved considerably and broke numerous team and player school records.[citation needed] Iowa State's 52 points in a win over Texas Tech marked the most points put up by the Cyclones against a conference opponent in 38 years. Iowa State quarterback Austen Arnaud ended his career as the Cyclones No. 2 all-time leading passer with 6,777 yards and 42 touchdown passes. His 8,044 yards of total offense is the second-best total in school history. Running back Alexander Robinson finished his Iowa State career as the Cyclones' fourth all-time leading rusher with 3,309 yards.[5]
quote:
Ohio State
On December 9, 2011, Urban Meyer selected Herman as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Buckeyes.[6] On December 9, 2014, after leading Ohio State's fourth ranked offense while playing two backup quarterbacks, Herman was awarded the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top assistant coach.[7]
quote:
Houston
On December 15, 2014, Herman was hired by Houston as its new head football coach. As of late-November 2015, he has led his No. 21 AP Poll ranked team to a 10–1 start.[8]
He sets records everywhere he goes.
Broyles award winner.
Mensa member (not football related but very impressive.)
His work last year at Ohio State after losing 2 QB's was unreal.
Houston had one of their best recruiting classes EVER his first year on board.
I would love Jimbo of course but I also think Herman would be absolutely fantastic.
Every day that passes I want him to be our guy more and more.

I'd be stoked. Maybe a little nervous, but definitely excited.

Grow a pair and quit whining.

He would actually be the best pick of all.
He is new fresh blood to head coaching but has the best offensive pedigree and he has been unbelievable in all of his last jobs for the past 10 years, making huge improvement everywhere.
He is a star waiting to happen and he would bring our stagnant offense to the top 10 in both combo run/pass which with a solid defense would bring us multiple championships

I have always said it's Herman.......The media "insider" guys will want a refund.
Posted on 11/27/15 at 1:38 pm to Tigerinthehollow
Sumlin has turned A&M around and has done a great job. They are getting players that they werent getting before he was hired. I dont understand what people expect from him

You should start a new thread about Herman...only started 2 recently.
