I watched the last 2:40 of the game, and watched LSU leave the winning points on the free-throw line while the other team nailed them, and then miss two opportunities to set up a play by timeouts by relying solely on talent and low-percentage opportunities. I've seen enough.
I'm sick of watching shitty coaching of LSU talent in both football and basketball. Sick of it.

I think Patterson may have panicked a bit with the bad pass fumbling it a bit... He probably didn't know how much time was left on the clock... Wished Simmons would have just drove to the hoop... Oh well... Live and learn....

Once Simmons got blocked at the beginning they should've called a TO.

Until we get Victor

Hopefully this sparks their season

Blakeney, Patterson and Sampson were a combined 4 for 19 from 3 tonight
That hurt us pretty bad offensively. Blakeney was 0 for 6 and just not himself.

One thing I did notice is we have a lot of 3 pt shooters.....

Our leading scorer was off all night, Sampson was off the court most of the game, Marquette played the game of their lives, we didn't have two of our key players and we still only lost by 1. At this point in the season a loss may actually be more beneficial than a win

I don't know what's wrong with the team and rebounding. Rebounding is mostly about effort and hustle. Too often our guys just stand there or make weak attempts at the ball. I know JJ has said he is drilling this into their heads, but it just looks like it isn't sinking in. Rebounds = opportunities. Malone is a waste of a scholarship. Gray still can't control himself. The half court "offense" is a complete joke. That can't be what the coaches are asking them to do. I really hope Hornsby and Victor being out doesn't hurt us too much early on. I knew missing Keith would suck, but without his steady hand and consistent ppg, the team often looks lost if it isn't a fast break. Once LSU fields a complete, healthy team, I think they'll be really good. But right now there is too much basic stuff that needs to be cleaned up before we can call that squad a contender.

Insufferable fruits? What the frick does that even mean.
As is the case with football, everyone wants the teams to succeed, but has issues seeing obvious issues continued from one season to the next. Agree that it's early and the team played hard to the end, but also understand the concern. "Fruits" lol

true Grim.... The last few games LSU looked like they were going through the motion....... This loss may very well wake them up a bit.. Long season...

Aaron Epps/Brian Bridgewater/Darcy Malone/Elbert Robinson tonight:
2-for-9, 4 pts, 2 reb, 7 fouls

No offense, but I must have missed that.

And size, which we didn't have most of the game. It was pretty much Simmons and 4 guards

Yep. We just played really, really shitty.

Here's the problem. Young or not they have one year. One year to make this happen with the best player we've had since shaq and cj and talented support guys. But I don't see anything different than I'd see if these guys were at the playground playing. The majority of our points were scored from one on one moves or fast break opportunities from turnovers. We still have guys standing around and watching the ball on missed shots instead of finding a man to block out. We have no viable inside game outside of Simmons and he doesn't really play inside. That's on jones for not recruiting a real big man. Malone has not improved in year 3. Robinson is too slow. Epps is a foul machine. Bridgewater plays below the rim...well below the rim.
It's frustrating that in year 4 we're still seeing very little semblance of an offensive plan. And don't forget, they're playing their 11th game together counting the Australia trip. I really do hope Hornsby and Victor make a difference but until this team learns how to stop dribble penetration, rebound efficiently and work the ball around, we'll be looking at a lot of mediocre games against these types of teams.

Not a good game from "the others" as Shaq would say.
Also if Darcy takes one more 3 in a game that is in any sort of question he should be benched for the rest of the season.

I remember y'all flipping your shite when we lost to Old Dominion in whatever God forsaken tournament we played last year. Y'all screamed that we'd be lucky to get to the NIT. I remember Jarell being the only player who played half decent and the rest of the team looking like dog shite until the last three or four minutes of the game. I remember us missing a ton of open looks from all over the court. Our team last year learned from that game and got better and I'm sure this one will too.
