Like it or not, the new stuff is exponentially cleaner and works well.
IMO, you're taking a big risk when you pull emission control equipment off of a diesel. When the hammer comes down (and it will eventually), you'll be stuck with either a massive bill to get it into compliance or an illegal and worthless truck.

exactly...I remember the '80s when everyone was taking the catalytic converters off their vehicles...then they started looking for them as a part of the inspection and a whole lot of folks had to spend several hundred bucks to put them back on...
