A couple years back my Son's car was booted. He opened his trunk, took out his hacksaw and cut it off. Brought it to Ms. where it layed iron junk pile for a long time. I think they could have charged him something like $1500 for destroying that boot.
I have a apartment in CBD, these meter maids are like stink on sh*t, ever since they made the nola.com for sitting in coffee shops and playing on the phones instead of doing there job. NOPD also now has one of those license plate recognition truck like in the parking wars show. They just drive around and scan plates and if you have i think 2 unpaid tickets they jump out and boot you

Thry changed the rule. You only have to have 1 unpaid ticket. Camera ticket or police issued ticket and they will boot you.

This isn't like getting out of an actual ticket from NOPD or a Trooper.

Why is that the crazy part?

You can't get out of tickets like the ones I listed by changing your plate.

Example, in Houston there is no way you could do that because when you walk in and say "Someone stole my plate, I need a new one." then they'll look you up in the system, see old plates have tickets tied to them, and then make you pay that fine before issuing new plate.

I feel like you're not reading what I'm typing.

If it has a cop's name attached to it, shouldn't they be able to force me to pay it? I'm just confused is all.

NOLA does a parking ticket amnesty program like every other year. If you get 5 tickets and the fees are approaching $1000, wait till the amnesty and pay $100 and be done with it.
Where can I find out more about this?

That's what they'd like people to think for those photo enforcement things. They want you to think that it can be reported to credit agencies if you don't pay because it looks more official with an officer's name. They'll threaten reporting you to collections, but you can easily have it removed from your report with minimal effort.
The only reason to pay any type of photo enforcement ticket is to avoid being booted if you don't feel like dealing with changing your plate. But I'll spend $50 and take an afternoon off long before I ever pay one of those bullshite tickets.

This was from a meter, not a camera. I don't know if that makes a difference in your logic.

they aren't from the city?
They are from a company in Ohio, when you pay the ticket you send the money to Ohio.

Yep. If you owe $140 they can boot you, once camera ticket can be more than that.
I was told by a lawyer the camera tickets are unenforceable and this is the reason why Jefferson Parish had them removed.
NOLA, now uses the cheapest boots imaginable. So they have to use two because the new boots don't cover the wheel studs. If you have a jack, you can take the wheel off and then the boot.

quote:I thought you meant an actual list. Perhaps you are too slow to get what I am saying. A parking ticket like what the OP described would be written by a police officer in Houston and be in the system, therefore making it impossible for you to get a new plate to get out of it. I am talking about getting a ticket from an officer of the city, not some weird third party agency. Back to my original point, N.O. is doing it in a fricked up way.

carrying something 20 steps vs 4 blocks is worth the ticket every time.
