Marginally cheaper.
But still cheaper, so tickets being too expensive is a bad argument

LSU's fanbase is like 75% deacons doing weddings on this Saturday.
Exactly
90% of LSU fan's "plans" on Saturday were centered around watching the game

Just because you move the price from $90 to $75 doesn't make it a good deal or not too expensive. Could people afford it? Sure. Will large numbers of people shell out for it. Obviously not.
All the factors together dictate that the price should be lower. Like another poster said, you're not picking up casual fans to fill the stadium with $75 a head price tag and $40 a head in the nosebleeds.

50-60K will be great.
Look, let's be honest: it's a pain in the arse and we're already doing it 7 Saturday's this year.
To expect 9OK+ at a home game with about 48 hours notice before the weekend is pretty silly. If he really made condescending comments, after basically telling people services would be limited, he's really a piss-poor AD.
Let's don't even go into college football attendance in general...

you underestimate the number of people who come from out of town
and you underestimate the number of people who get free tickets from season ticket holders who give them away for a game like this
and you underestimate the sheep nature of people who aren't coming simply because someone they know isn't coming. the guy who normally sets up the tailgate won't be there... my friends can't go... etc.

Ok, that's understandable, but that shouldn't prevent us from even getting 50,000 tickets sold. Less than 50% turnout for a game regardless of the fact that there was only 3 days notice is terrible

It amazes me that people cannot comprehend that some people have a life outside of LSU football.
What amazes me is that people cannot comprehend what it takes to fill a 100,000 seat stadium. Tiger Stadium doesn't fill up every week because 100,000 people decided on Wednesday to buy a ticket and go to the game. It takes a complex process of season ticket sales, student ticket distribution, visiting fans traveling, along with incentives for each of these and months of planning by many thousands of people to produce the spectacle that is a packed stadium. That process can't take place in three days. You also have to consider that, although many of us are quite comfortable doing things online, there are still a lot of people who aren't comfortable doing transactions online, and certainly not getting stuck in a virtual waiting room for half an hour to do it.
Without a doubt, if I were down there, I would definitely buy a ticket and go to the game (assuming I didn't have something really important planned that I couldn't reschedule), but to expect 100,000 to do that, or even 60-70,000, is just ridiculous. As I posted yesterday, anything close to 40,000 would be a respectable showing, and it looks like we are at 38,000 now, so that's not bad. If later orders today and walk-ups tomorrow push the number into the 40s, even better. 50,000 would be a huge success.

No one was expecting 90K+. Alleva himself said the goal was 50,000 which we probably won't reach

At one time late yesterday I had extra suite tickets available that I couldnt give away. People I asked either bought tickets already or were unavailable to come to the game.

I bet we will. A lot of people will decide they have nothing better really going tomorrow. I think 10-15k walkup is entirely possible. Everyone knows tickets are widely available, so human nature will let many people wait until the last minute.

Most of whom are from New Orleans, Lafayette, or Lake Charles. It doesn't take 3 days of planning to make that trip.

I really wonder how many people aren't going because there won't be a tailgate for them. Pretty said that for some people the tailgate takes priority over the game.

We are doing our part and providing the usual tailgate.

He's probably right, then.
40K today, and I assume a decent walk-up tomorrow.
I didn't hear his comments. Was he basically talking down to the the fan base?

I have my doubts about that. We've only sold like 10k tickets in the last 30 hours. I have no reason to think we'll sell more than that in the next 20 hours

Looks like we'll fall short of that, but don't be too sure. There are still quite a few people who either don't want to go online or got frustrated trying to use the site, but may still want to go to the game. There may be a surprisingly large walk-up crowd. Still, if we're only at 38,000 in the morning, I doubt the walk-up crowd will be 12,000, so we'll probably not reach 50,000.

we are doing a half tailgate. Don't feel like bringing a trailer or generator out this week. But we'll have beer and food and that's what's important
