I wouldn't put it there. The heat and humidity will eventually kill your equipment.

I agree it's hard to estimate the amount of cable needed, and that 1000ft doesn't sound like enough. The heat will definitely cause an issue in the garage. I'd recommend a central closet or room for a cabinet. Even better if it has AC. You want something that you can access easily.
