re: Hypothetically, would you still go to games if tailgating was banned?

I know a lot of people who couldn't care less about the game, it's all about the 6 hour tailgate party before hand. I'm not saying they are not LSU fans, I'm just saying the social event is bigger than the game to them.
It's getting to the point that this group is in the majority.

Hands down-- not even close, this is the stupidest question in the history of the Rant!!

I'd probably go to more. I don't really like being around drunk people
Posted on 9/27/15 at 4:27 pm to theantiquetiger
Probably not
Since I come in from out of state, the full day experience is great for me.
I would stay home with better views, better drinks and better bathrooms if I only got three hours for the game.

I starting to get this way. I've been going to LSU football games my whole life and will never sell our family tickets, but I really enjoy getting to see all of my people before the game. We are at that age where everyone is having kids and focusing on getting careers going. The tailgate allows for an opportunity to see everyone.
Also, watching the game on tv, in the a/c with beer and a bathroom make it nice. I also don't have to listen to the shite music they are pumping in, or wait 30minutes to be told they are out of water at the concession.

It wouldn't surprise me if one day tailgating was only allowed for people who have tickets to the game. Alleva hears all the complaints about parking and 2 hour times to get off campus, and the easiest solution is to simply reduce the # of people on campus on Saturdays. That keeps LSU from having to spend any more money on resources or people, and whatever amount of money spent at the bookstore or Union by the non-game attendees is probably not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

I'd still go but it would be a huge adjustment. A lot of money dedicated in tailgating equipment. I don't ever remember going to a home game and not tailgating. I'd probably setup tailgate somewhere off campus and shuttle myself to the game.

Its about the football period.

I'm just dreaming of the day they stop selling the same crappy food from the 1970's yet charge 2015 prices. I know it's all about charity. You can't tell me that having better food and drinks wouldnt make more money. And the idea that it's ok to sell alcohol in one part of the stadium but not the rest is ridiculous too.

Don't give that Obama any ideas.

would probably go to more games, honestly. The parking situation would improve and I wouldn't have to go to campus eight hours before kickoff.
Yep.

I would camp out at chimes or walkons

Yes. I would want to see the Golden Band from Tigerland march down Victory Hill.

I'd go to more games because parking wouldn't be a nightmare. The tailgaters who don't even go inside the damn stadium ruined the game day experience for those who can't get parking passes.

Tailgating, as it is done now at LSU, is a relatively new thing that developed about the time LSU stopped people from drinking in the stadium. There have always been a few who grilled or partied outside the stadium but not nearly to the degree they do now. When I went to school in the 70s I never heard the term "tailgating." Fans have been filling the stadium since Dietzel was coach. If they don't tailgate they'll do something else. They will pass a good time and go to the games.

I think the stadium would still be full for conference games, but in the time period you reference, the view from your living room, if you could even get one, was far worse than the view from any seat in the stadium. The opposite is true today.

How about these fine alternatives to ponder. What if they... Banned concessions? Eliminated all bathrooms in the stadium? Made cheering illegal? Wouldn't let you in without first showing a naked pic of your wife?
I think that was the best answer by far
