How the hell does this have 38 down votes?
Because the OP decided to say everyone but Drew Brees on this team sucks (which is implied with a winless season without one player). I agree with the list earlier in this post, you have a host of players that are above average and a couple of players that could be superstars (Armstead especially). I think the overreactionist mentality is why most people disagree with the OP.
If he had simply stuck to his belief that this is the worst team talent-wise in the Payton era he might have had a valid argument. But to state that we'd go winless without one player it's a pretty radical statement.

Ask the colts about that ....no manning = no wins. Yes it's a bold statement .

This team has a lot more talent than that team
And that team didn't go winless(2-14)

Honest question, did you start watching last year?
Posted on 9/3/15 at 12:58 am to bountyhunter
If Luke Mccown started all 16 games I would put money on us going winless.
Grayson though appears more than capable even now to knock off a couple bottom dwellers if given the chance. Kid has spunk.

We would absolutely go 0-16 with Grayson. McCown could win 3-4 games just based off his NFL experience. No matter how much you hated his preseason he brings experience that can keep you in games that the other two QBs can't give you. Griffin and Grayson would be lost if thrown in the fire week 1.

I dont think Mccown has ever won 3-4 NFL games.
NFL Regular Season Career stats
9 TDs/14 Interceptions
7 Fumbles/3 Lost
33 Sacks
68.3 QB Rating
There is a reason he has not played in 3 years. He has only gotten older and you do not get better by not playing.
Edit: These are his stats from his prime.

McCown is terrible, I doubt anyone is disputing this at this point. I hope he's gone after the final 53 purge. But to be fair he did make a few decent throws in the 2nd Q the last game. Not saying his negatives are outweighed by the positives, but I don't think it's unrealistic to say he could string a couple of drives together in a game or two that could prevent us from losing outright. Also, don't take away the fact that (regardless to the OP's opinion) we do have decent players in critical places of the offense, which will take some pressure off of any QB starting for us (good stable of running backs, an aging but good possession WR, and one aging but average TE). Not to mention the improved offensive line.
The above poster is comparing a team who drafted a QB to replace their franchise player in response to an immediate need (such as injury to the franchise player) to a team who has drafted a QB that could, maybe fill that roll down the road a ways. Two completely different philosophies/scenarios.

I'm sorry dude, but there is pretty good talent on the team. The problem is there isn't much durability or experience. If they all gel well and physical gifts make up for the lack of experience they can make the playoffs this season.

Dude, Khiry Robinson is a legit NFL caliber running back
Also this team isn't void of talent . They have as much talent as every other team. The team is missing leadership and has not gelled as a unit. If the they can put the mental together the talent will shine.

I get it 2014 was a let down primarily on defense but in 2013 that unit finished 4th in the league in total defense and 4th in sacks with arguably lesser talent than we have now and Rob Ryan who many on here want shite canned after one great year and one lousy year.
All of this worry and anxiety over fricking preseason games.

Shame on you guys for letting this get to 6 pages.

I was not arguing in support of the OP. I think he is underselling the potential of this years team altogether. Most agree with parts of his reasoning just not his overall conclusion. I was simply pointing out that in my estimation only one of his deductions may actually be hypothetically correct. Then I proceeded to outline the obvious reason why I felt that way. Which had nothing to do about the overall talent of the team...simply the dead weight/drive killing terrorist we have at backup QB.
The main point I was trying to make...even if Drew were to go down we have a QB on the roster who I believe can win games for us this year just not option no.1. Rookie QBs win regular season games every year...even the really terrible ones. Grayson is certainly flawed however given a chance he can make plays possibly enough to win a couple games a feat I feel no other backup on our team can manage.

Watching since 89-90 . Think we finished 9-7 . We won the last 3 or 4

Take away Drew Brees and I'm pretty sure we go winless in the NFL this year
Not sure about winless, but it would be pretty bad.

All the people saying this is 2006 all over again are crazy this team is nowhere near the talent of that team .
Your overreacting, this might end up being true. But we won't know until everything plays out.

We're talking about talent right? That's what the thread title says. We had a lot of talent last year, but it didn't materialize into a winning record. That team had more talent than some previous teams but they didn't play together.
This whole thread is people basically arguing over a misunderstanding of what the question is. There is plenty of talent on this team. We have no clue what it's going to translate into yet.

Rob Ryan has never been the coordinator of a defense for a team that finished above 500
