If you're eating right and exercising like you should, how much do you expect to lose?

this would depend on how fat you are right now

not enough info.

If you're 600 pounds you should lose a lot more per month than if you weigh 200 pounds

I started the year at about 315, running 2 miles every morning before work and not drinking any soda or eating fast food I'm down to 288. Hoping to lose another 15 to 25 by the end of the year

What is "exercising like you should"?

I dont exercise at all, outside of yard work, chasing the four year old, being on my feet (walking) almost all day, etc.

I was told i could i need to gain about 10 pounds.

I just started 5x5 again, and despite eating under maintenance, I'm gaining weight.

ETA: I'm fat.

At most I'd say 2 pounds a week but probably closer to a little over a pound, because you will be putting on muscle too.

This is subjective. Eating the correct types of food in bulk will still get you fat or retain weight. Make sure you are taking in the correct amount of calories for your body. If you under do your calories, your body won't be as efficient shedding it off. Also, doing the same exercises over and over will start to dwindle your results because the body wants to be homogeneous state. It will adapt.

As a guy that puts on about 10-15 lbs of football watching weight every fall/winter, it usually takes me about 2-4 months to get it off. A good number if getting after it is about 2 lbs/week, but I usually lose a week or two due to an event on a weekend.

2 pounds per week. It is marathon not a sprint. You want to lose as much fat and as little muscle as possible. If you are dieting you really should do weight training as well to help preserve and maintain muscle tissue.

I never focused on my actual weight.

I had gotten out of shape, so I started running and eating right. Pretty much measured results by the way my pants fit and how I look.

I don't expect to lose much, but I'm not grossly overweight either.

I lost 12 in two weeks starting out on a diet. Went from 192 to 180 by just eating, no working out. I had a bunch of shite go on then, and ended up not following it at all. I have somewhat been following it lately, and am posted up around 183 now.

If I was exercising, I wouldn't expect it to move that quickly because I gain muscle really quickly.

It really all depends on how fat you are though. My metabolism is pretty fast, so that helped me

Eta: That wasn't water weight, and I ate 3500-4000 calories instead of 5-6000

At my physical prime and I was overweight, I'd lose a pound a day. I lost 80 pounds one summer when I was 18 and I was in good shape by the end of it. But I was working out every day. Also, running is not the best for weight loss. It's great for cardio, but weight lifting will burn many many more calories than you will running.

Also, stick to protein and not much else.

I'm 5'11 and weighed 195. I increased my running from 3-4 miles a week to 10-12 miles a week, and cut back on some of the junk food. I lost 13 pounds in just under 4 weeks.

Depends on how you do it. I was 317 in mid March, I'm 258 now, and I have been on a plateau for almost 3 months. I've only lost 10 lbs since mid June-ish.

If you want to lose it FAST I advise low carb. Less than 20 carbs per day, and 1500 calories. It puts your body into ketosis. Which is a bodily process that actually eats fat, the amount of calories you eat determines the speed at which you will lose the weight. I haven't been doing it, but if I had I would be around 230 right now.
