Is Zelda U Nintendo's most hyped game EVER?

I've only been on this for 21 years, so I don't have 1st hand knowledge of the hype that surrounded Nintendo games before 1994 or games in general, since the Big N was virtually the game industry itself.
However, I don't think I've seen a game as hyped as Zelda U before since the early 2000s. The Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time remakes (and the Zelda games in general) as well as the smash games are really the only onesI can think of that have similar hype to the upcoming title. They are keeping it so secret and it's driving me nuts to be honest. Honorable mentions are the Prime titles.
I mean am I wrong?

I don't think the hype is all that crazy really.

Nintendo games don't garner this impressive hype most other games get today,
I think Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or maybe Metroid Prime probably had the most main stream hype I can remember for a Nintendo game.

OoT was the most hyped game I remember from the Zelda series. I remember Zelda II got a lot of hype, too, but that was before we had the internet.
For most-hyped Nintendo game? Hard to beat Super Mario Bros 2, even though it disappointed a lot of fans. The first 3-D Mario game was a big damn deal, too.
TBH, I haven't seen or heard much at all about Zelda U, but I don't visit too many places that have to do with Nintendo.

Not even half as much hype as Twilight Princess.

I'll wait to get excited until it gets a fricking title.
Still pissed that my gamepad broke for no reason and its 170 bucks to get another one

I don't really think it's that hyped either. Among the other games already mentioned by others, I'll add "Super Mario Brothers 3" to the list. There was an entire feature length movie devoted to hyping that title.

And Mario 64 was hyped and delivered

Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, and OoT blow it out of the water in terms of anticipation. Especially Super Mario Bros 3, where they made an entire movie just to be a commercial to it.

I guess another thing I'm asking is based on potential, so you think the hype is really gonna explode? It's the first Zelda game that is supposedly all open world.

Zelda quite literally invented the all open world. This is by far not the first Zelda with an open world. Does the Wind Waker ring a bell? That may have the single largest map of any adventure game ever. Just because I can run into any and all wooded areas doesn't really mean shite to me. I've been playing those games for years.

Seriously guys?
Smash Bros. has so much fricking hype behind every release it's incredible.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt to hardware limitations, but it was nevertheless a free roaming top down with linearity subtlely snuck in there. Which has been the same with all Zelda games since then. You could go to dungeons in any order, but besides that, there was nothing really to do in between except look for a few essential items.

Again, linear story that gave the illusion of open world gameplay by way of a set map that had you traverse in order to further the story. Me being the completionist I am, actually 100%'d that game and I hated it. The transportation was slow and monotonous with barely anything to do in between the islands except the occasional treasure chest.
I'm not one of those open world snobs that bashes linearity by any means because sometimes you just gotta have it. But if Eiji Aonuma really sticks to his word, this Zelda game really shouldn't be anything like previous Zelda games outside of the obvious Zelda quality we've come to expect.
