Weekend Fishing Report

Hit Bayou Black this morning. Boated nothing. No sac-a-lait, no perch. Water was somewhat muddy even in Bluebird... which I hardly ever see. Anyone have luck so far?
Also, bass fishermen, what am I doing wrong....I had 3 bass on the line this morning, and when I get them to the boat or they break water, they're shaking it loose. I thought I set the hook enough. Is that my problem?

Well...I was considering going there tomorrow morning...
You may have had the hook in a soft spot or a bad hook up and when any slack happens, the hook comes out. It happens especially with weedless baits

What kind of bait for the bass are they throwing?
Tension is key, can't have slack

First of all, once you have the fish on, keep your rod tip down unless you're trying to pull him over or away from a log or weed bed. This will reduce the amount of jumping they do.
If you're fishing with a worm, you really need to set the hook hard with a sharp motion. If you're losing them on spinnerbaits/buzzbaits, once the fish is on the line, it doesn't hurt to give the rod a good tug to sort of set the hook. With crankbaits, don't set the hook, just lean into the fish with the rod. You're going to lose fish on crankbaits from time to time if they jump and shake. Not much you can do about it except keeping your rod tip down.
And in all cases, if you ever give the fish slack in the line, you risk losing it.

Not doing this is probably the problem. I tend to set the hook, but probably not as hard as I should

I'm ready to hear the Bayou Pigeon Boat Launch drama stories...I know there are going to be plenty with the basin turning on and the gator season kicking off...

Where at? Or vacinity if you don't want to reveal your spot. Just wondering. All my usual spots were slow

Tide is supposed to be completely flat tomorrow so today may have been the better of the two

We were there along with half of Louisiana it seemed. Me and my buddy caught about 20 and a few goggle eye. Kept 12. It was like a parking lot out there. Junebug color seemed to be the ticket.

Fished Lafitte Friday and Saturday. Caught 9 reds Friday and 7 on Saturday with a few small bass we threw back. It was very slow. Thankfully the Reds were all good size.
A full moon and rising tides all through the morning didn't help.
