Asking for trouble right. Just saw that there are dozens of yolo boarders on the miss river. Seems really crazy to me.

Agree, I paddleboard but would never do it in the Mississippi River.

Big River Regional race from downtown to L'Auberge.

River traffic is closed for this.

It's an organized event with safety boats and river traffic closed. I've done plenty of kayak events/races in the mississippi River. It's not bad at all. Very scenic outisde of what you see when crossing the Bridges around BR.

Serious question....if you fall in the MS River with a life jacket on, is that enough to save you from drowning? The currents and whirlpools are wicked.

Watch out for runaway slaves camped out on river bars. I read a book about that.

I did the race in a kayak. It was a lot of fun. The people who put on the event deserve a lot of credit, it was very well organized. The river bank downriver just a bit from the bridge is very scenic.

River was closed. By closed, meaning traffic is shut down for a window of time, not cleared. People can go around.

Kayaks, canoes, paddlers, etc.

Multiple coast guard and police boats as escorts.
