I want a fun weekend car that's under $40K. Also, would I have to turn in my man card? TIA.

Can't you get into a Mustang vert for that?

Way more power, better reliability, better resale.

Drove my FIL's z350 convertible, seems to be a fun car but I'd never own one

You can put racing stripes, ground effects, and rims on a Honda Civic and get the same look.

That thing sits too low to the ground to hang truck nuts off of.

my impression of the coopers is that they are kinda cool because they have character...however, I am betting that they lose value very quickly and are just generally too small for me to be comfortable with...

I wouldn't go with a convertible, but if you live near curvy mountain roads, they are great cheap speedsters through the twisties. If you live in flatland Louisiana, no reason to get one.

Well, at least it's not a Miata.

If you like it, buy it.

Yes.

For $40k, do yourself a favor and look for a C6 Z06.

Miata's are great race cars.

Bulletproof and fast.

I was going to,suggest that, actually, if OP just wanted the Go-Cart feel.

Yea. Miatas are a lot of fun to drive and great for weekend racers. Always fun seeing the OT experts chime in though
