Thinking about you beer nerds last night at Beer School

I went to Beer School at WOB last night. It was great actually.
For $5 we got a binder with tasting notes and four 4 oz. pours.
The owner/brewmaster from a local brewery, Southbound, was there.
We sampled their Witbier, IPA, Berliner Weisse and Experimental Saison.
Lots of biology and chemistry talk as well.
You beer dorks would have enjoyed it.

How was their saison? I bought their new bomber with simcoe and brettanomyces. Excited to try it, I hear they do well with that style.

Smith is a good guy, went to GT with him.
Ask him about his time with Westbrook if he is there for a future class.
ETA I actually just read his profile on Southbounds website, he refers to a startup brewery in Charleston he worked at (aka Westbrook). Lot of bad blood there btw them

Sounds like a good time.
I just looked up their Berliner Weisse. That sucker is 7%, I bet that is a killer hot weather/tailgating beer.
Southbounds logo looks an awful lot like Rock Art in VT. Hopefully their beer is better than Rock Arts.

7% is really high ABV for a berlinner. typically expect around 3-5
wonder how much it changes the taste

It was very very good. My favorite one.
It is not a regular offering, so I am going to try to go today to get a bottle or two while it is still around. Apparently it ages well.
As an aside, WOB is going to do this beer school monthly for a while. They already have Service (another local), RJ Rockers, and Sweetwater lined up.

He talked about that. Apparently the way they drink it over there often is to pour it over fruit syrup. So they put the fruit, Mango and Pomegranate in the brew itself. It also had a bit of a pink hue because of this. I loved it.
He also called it a Berliner style so they would be more accurate.

It is really good. Gas station here has it on tap for growler fills.

If serious.
If sarcasm, based on your comments in the Sam Adams thread, I am not bothered.

Missed this.
Another heads up. The growler place on Drayton and Oglethorpe closed.
