Supposedly will have 8 to 9 animated segments and remain very faithful to the comic book series as well as the music soundtrack theme.

Hollywood just has no original ideas left.
Some things shouldn't be remade and this is one of them.
I guess at least RR is doing it.

Ive changed my opinion on this.
They have original ideas, but instead of taking chances on them they shoehorn them into old titles.
They could make an epic new music video cartoon badass film. Instead they'll do this thing.
FOx couldve used Trank to make a badass new superhero franchise, instead they let him make a new movie but just called in FF.
The ideas are there. Hollywood studios refuse to let them grow.

To be honest, I don't think RR is remaking the original Heavy Metal movie. I think he's just adding a new installment to the previous two movies that have been done - Heavy Metal and Heavy Metal 2000.
There's over 250 Heavy Metal comic editions so there is a TON of material to use in a new movie.
I think this has potential

Its the same in music and video games.
So many game sequels and ripoffs of each other, and in music unless you're established or can be one of the 10 videos on mtv these days at any given time, you're not going to be truly pushed.
No one feels safe taking chances on originality. And it's fricking sad. One thing about society that I wish would change is how underground everything "original" seems to have to be. Recently, In the 80s and 90s it was an interesting time because people took chances, and people seemed to seek knowledge.

Heavy Metal 2000 wasn't a remake.

They will ruin rock 'n' roll, and strangle everything we love about it, right? You know, because they're trying to buy respectability for a form that is gloriously and righteously dumb. Now, you're smart enough to know that. And the day it ceases to be dumb is the day that it ceases to be real, right? And then it just becomes an industry of cool. I'm-I'm telling ya, you're comin' along at a very dangerous time for rock 'n' roll. I mean, the war is over. They won. And 99% of what passes for rock 'n' roll these days, silence is more compelling.

Post grunge, pop punk and nu metal in popular music were horrible. I don't know, I guess I'm just not a fan of art that is "safe".
Same with film, I'm not even sure if my favorite director Stanley Kubrick was a genius. He was original in what he did, and worked hard. Films today, just sometimes seems as if they were all directed by the same guy, just some scripts, stories and actors were better. Sometimes people sign their work with things like lens flares..but still. Plus I'm not a fan of excessive cgi at all.

The way the whole "remake" thing is looked at in film is a little odd to me. In music, If a band came out today and was like, "we are going to remake Dark Side of the Moon. We feel it could be updated and want to give our vision of it"..it would be ridiculous.

Guess what? I got a fever.
And the only prescription is more Heavy Metal threads.
I gotta have more Heavy Metal threads, baby!
