Let's talk Abdullah....

tearing it up in camp and making defenses look silly in preseason.
the hype train is starting to go nuts on him and ADP has him in the Ingram/Hyde/Latavius/JStew territory.
is he worth the reach as a RB2?

early draft
but his ADP is climbing to a point where I may uncomfortable with it, I think he can overtake Bell or at the very least be a solid PPR starter....but still he's a rookie with a fairly productive back when healthy ahead of him

Glad I drafted him when I did. Because the hype is about to get ridiculous.

If he is getting drafted around proven starters like Ingram, then stay the frick away.

He's 5'9" 205
Bell and riddick are good pass catching backs as is
Bell got 20+ carries in 1 game last year
Preseason
I'm not crazy about him as a rb2 with so little clarity. Ppr foex w upside

Let's actually see Bell get carries this season after his injury.
Abdullah is a way better pass catching back than Riddick.

Based off 1 preseason game? I'm not sure
Taking stock in that now is like taking stock in Riddick being 1 on the depth chart right now

you have no issue with people taking spiller as high as rd 3 yet abullah is slotted to fill a similar role with possibly more carries

Couple things on Abdullah:
-The Lions should be much improved in the running game with the addition of two solid guards (OK one may play center)
-Didnt they bring in the OC from the Saints? I see Abdullah as a more talented version of Darren Sproles/Reggie Bush backs the Saints have used recently
-To me he's going to be what Jahvid Best was for them a couple years back, a massively talented back who can score from anywhere on the field but will be limited based on Bell vulturing his red zone carries and questions as to whether he can stay healthy for a full season as a rookie with 15 touches a game
To me he's a very good flex option or a low level RB2, and have him rated around RB22-RB24 in the Latavius Murray/Doug Martin range for standard but would plug him in even higher if you are playing PPR.

Riddick is just a good of a pass catcher, if not better. Abdullah is a better runner though.
his size still scares me as an every down runner but i like him at the value i got him at last night in a draft. 5.04 in a 12tm
Joe Lombardi came from NOLA, so RB in the passing game is always in his offense.

Just know what you're buying with the guy.
He is not a workhorse back. He's a scatback, with a lot of talent. However he's not going to be a 20 carry a game type of guy.
He'll have games with 15 carries for 150 yards, and some games with 10 carries for 30 yards. He'll destroy teams without decent OLB speed but good defenses will clamp down on him hard.

Similar role - Well that's the point. Just look at how Riddick and Bell split the volume last season. 60 something receptions split between the two, 1 game of 20+ rush attempts. Just looks like a 3 headed monster backfield at this juncture.
Pierre Thomas caught 45 passes in 11 games last season. 77 the season before (sproles 71), Sproles 75 in 2012 and 86 in 2011. That's a pretty defined role the way I see it, correct me if I'm wrong. Saints have no recieeving threats this year, Detroit has Calvin Tate Ebron etc. The cherry on top is Spiller has actually been a 1200 yard back in the league

I guess I just don't see Riddick being as much of a factor as you

I've been on his hype train all season
Just missed out on stealing him in my early draft
Now I think his value is way too high now. I think he'll be boom or bust this season. Only worth his ADP if you are in a dynasty/keeper

I guess that's the general consensus now. He's reached the general consciousness of the FF community so probably time to look elsewhere for a hidden gem.

The beauty of it is for every guy like Abdullah's value skyrocketing overnight, there's a couple guys that everyone forgets about and slips down the draft

would probably be a better value in an auction draft then?
still have Riddick and Bell who should get there carries too so he's kind of tricky to me.
could be that they ease him into things and then he goes off about halfway through the year?

I mean it's not like the offense is wide open for him to take over. And while talented, it wouldnt be the first time a more talented back had to wait his turn.
He does have a few things going against him, his size and fumbling issues, so watch out for that.
I think he could have a rookie year like Gio Bernard did.
170 for 695 5Tds
56 for 514, 3 TDs
