Ryan Adams is covering 1989 in its entirety and Taylor Swift just loves it. These are Smiths-inspired covers, mind you, so get ready for a lot of melancholy jangle; it's Adams' take on Taylor's "Bad Blood."
Some clips in the following links:

Caught this guy on Later with Jools Holland the other night... was impressed.
Without me clicking why would he cover Taylor Swift?

A) He's nuts
B) He's quite talented, just not as talented as he thinks
C) He wants to get into Taylor Swift's panties. (He used to be married to Mandy Moore)

While I think he's fully capable of descending into a poor state of mental and emotional health at any moment, he seems to be in a really good place right now. In the past, my group of friends almost had a pasttime of sharing crazy Ryan Adams stories, news clippings, and reports with each other (because we were big fans but also because he was so ridiculous in his actions).
Anyway, I'm really happy to see that he appears to have gotten his shite together these days and seems genuinely happy.

Probably good pub and he likes her music I guess? I personally can't sand her music but oh well...if it gets more people to try out ryan adams then I support it

I've been loving all the ep's he's been putting out lately, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

The clips sound good IMO and they are just captured on the phone so I bet the final cuts will sound pretty good

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. I think he's every bit as talented as he thinks he is; he is, pound for pound, the best singer songwriter in the game, in my opinion.
He's also a proper count.

For the same reason so many others cover her, she is the musician of the decade and of this generation.
Sounds decent, I'll check it out just to hear more TSwift lyrics and see what he does with it.

Smiths inspired? I was expecting some Johnny Marr guitar style.

I'm picking up smiths on the drums and I'm thinking we will get more of that style with the final cuts.

I've seen other talented people do this, just to show that a good musician can make a crappy song sound good (or that the reason some songs are crappy is because of the original artist)...it can also be fun. Britney Spears seems to be a common target.
Nickle Creek - Toxic
Richard Thompson - Oops I did it again

Glenn Hansard covered Britney Spears also. His version of Everytime is really good actually.

Related--Any one have any recommendations for one or two Ryan Adams albums for someone who is just trying to get into his music?
He keeps popping up on my pandora streams, but I'd like a complete record.

Logjamming - you can't go wrong with Cold Roses as a starting point.

It depends on what you're into. His records span so many moods and styles that it's hard to say. My personal list goes:
1.) Love is Hell (though it's probably his darkest record)
2A.) Heartbreaker
2B.) Cold Roses
2C.) Jacksonville City Nights
And every thing else is tied for third, depending on my mood. Except the self titled record. It sucks balls.
